Tech Thread

At a market cap of 27B (less than 2% of Google), Spotify is like an indie bodega in tech.
 
I've been thinking about that tbh....I use YouTube enough that ad free is probably worth it to me.

ad free changes everything.

premium also lets you listen to youtube (or watch via pic-in-pic) when using other apps.

i'm sure an intense spotify user would have complaints about youtube music, but for me i can't tell the difference, and i get all the rare and independant music stuff from youtube ad free as well.

it wasn't really a close call for me.
 
Mrs. W was a long-time Google Music subscriber. then it ended, so she tried Spotify. fucking hated it. ended up with Apple Music, which is apparently adequate. I use none of them, pretty content with my podcasts.
 
I remember using Pandora way back in the day. Might have been the first real music streaming service. it had nice detailed rating for the song, album, and artist that really gave you nice recommendations. but that was before we listened to music on phones, and you couldn't choose or skip songs.
 
I remember iPod shuffles...
