WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Federal Communications Commission on Tuesday reaffirmed its 2022 decision to deny SpaceX satellite internet unit Starlink $885.5 million in rural broadband subsidies.

The FCC said the decision impacting Elon Musk's space company was based on Starlink's failure to meet basic program requirements and that Starlink could not demonstrate it could deliver promised service after SpaceX had challeged the 2022 decision.

So to put that into lay person's terms. Musk promised them a bunch of shit, so they shoveled almost a billion dollars of free money at Starlink. Musk then failed to deliver (likely failed to even try to deliver very hard) and pocketed the "subsidy" to float. Keep in mind that Starlink announced in Q3 that it had finally reach "break even", which I imagine is a lot easier with a bunch of free money from the US government.
 
I have good given threads a lot of leeway but I have to say it's pretty garbage .I'm not getting the propagandist bullshit but tons of sexualized 'single women' stuff in my feed. Seems there's no good options.

Trusting Zuck to create a platform that would provide the good of Twitter was always a reach. Was always way more likely that it would be a sanitized version on the front end while being a monster data grab on the back end.

FB keeps trying to get me to watch 'Reels' that are basically a handful of the same scantily clad women dancing to various songs under like 300 different usernames and I do not know why or what scam this is a part of but it is strange.

I had been largely off FB for a while but then started using it more after leaving Twitter... but they're all fucking shit.

I used to be an insta regular but the feed degraded to the point that a majority of it is ads or sponsored shit or other junk (i.e. not posts from the folks I follow) so it is basically unusable now too.

I'm too young to be this fucking crotchety and anti-tech...

I'm hopeful that over the next few years "tech" will uncouple from the information industrial complex we've allowed to take the wheel.

There's a lot of mind blowing tech hitting the market across more or less all industries. But these useless behemoths suck up all the oxygen in the room.
