Fun story....

So NYC's transit authority has been using Twitter for years to post live updates to riders. Twitter is one of a number of online services they use to do this, some internally developed apps and some 3rd party (twitters, whatsapp).

Elon demanded 50k a month for them to continue accessing twitters API and the MTA just told him to fuck off. Twitter updates will stop pretty much immediately.

This is how twitter ends
Not with a bang but a whimper

Twitter will be like Yahoo. Revolutionary then play 3rd string.

Yeah, I don't think it will ever die completely, but already it's becoming more and more of a pain to use. The best part of it before was that it was basically a free, open platform. It would be like if youtube charged people per minute of video uploaded as a hosting fee. Some people would still be able to make money, but it would kill so many uploads that the site would be useless to use.

I got tired of Twitter in less than a year.

I thought this place was nuts but Twitter? Bunch of twits

I mean…..we’re on a message board.

To the kids, we may as well be playing 8-tracks.
and likewise, the thought of tiktoking makes me feel somewhat physically ill.

also, just on a practical level, much easier to post on a message board than exchange videos in the workplace.

Yeah, in general, I just prefer consuming and sharing information via text rather than video.

Whenever I click on what I think is a text news story and a video launches instead, my reflexive reaction is to shut it down immediately.

+100

but I know that this is not the way of the youths anymore, it's all fucking video

Yeah, message boards are the books of social media…..instagram say television….and TikTok is Neo sitting in a tub of goo, plugged into the matrix sucking out his energy (or attention in TikToks case).

More strategies for wooing content creators from the super-genius:

Musk, whose statements to reporters are regularly laced with jokes, insults or attempts at trolling, responded sarcastically when asked who would potentially take over NPR's Twitter account.

"National Pumpkin Radio," Musk wrote, adding a fire emoji and a laughing emoji to describe the content of the fictional gourd-themed broadcaster. "NPR isn't tagged as government-funded anymore, so what's the beef?"

In an email sent at 2:19 a.m. EST after the story was originally published, Musk wrote a message without any text in the body but with this subject line: "You suck."
