The Fantastically Beautiful Joyously Superfun 22-23 Season Celebration Thread

He has changed his game and honestly gotten better with age. He was a more offensive rover type defender with Calgary for most of his career there and often had glaring Jake Gardiner-esque errors. That's largely the reason he was undervalued as his underlying defensive numbers were always quite good. Flames fans grew tired of those errors. Haven't really seen that here.

New GSVA update bumps Lilly up to a 1.9, good for a tie for 29th in the league amongst Dmen.

Matthews 6.4 (T-#1 C)
Marner 5.0 (#2 W)
Tavares 3.1 (T-#13 C)
Rielly 2.5 (T-#15 D)
Liljegren 1.9 (T-#29 D)
Nylander 2.9 (T-#26 W)
Bunting 2.8 (T-#31 W)

im still mad we didn’t give him 8 years while cheaper

Weird that he’d have Gardiner like tendencies. He, unlike Gardiner seems to be really heady. It’s actually too bad that his offensive instincts aren’t a bit better cause he does seem to find himself in glorious positions at times.

Acting like 32 is super old is so Toronto.

He's the 121st oldest player who's played a game so far this season, out of 776 players total.

So yeah, not exactly young, but definitely not "old" yet.

And as far as him declining goes---it has felt at times like he hasn't been as much of a play-driver out there the last couple of years, but he's still finished each season at close to a PPG pace.
