The Fantastically Beautiful Joyously Superfun 22-23 Season Celebration Thread

Given that they already put all of NAK, Simmonds, Clifford, Gaudette on waivers to make room for Robertson Malgin Holmberg I don't really feel like they're favoring vets at all.

One guy who hasn’t really dipped in play is Malgin. He’s a perfect fit for our bottom 6 and injury replacement in the top.

He's singlehandedly turned a disaster line around. It's pretty impressive. I'd say he's probably due a promotion, except for the fact that he's made that line so much better.

Yeah they've done nothing but reward the guys who are playing the best. I don't have many complains with the way they've handled the lineup this year. The Robertson situation is a little dicey and has potential to be frustrating but for now I'd say they're handling it similar to how I would have.

I mean at this point he's sitting for Simmonds. And as much as Robertson hasn't been great, he's been at least as good as Simmonds.

Simmonds is way more likely to throat punch a bitch though.

Didn't Simmonds only play 1 game over him? Robertson is playing tonight and he played vs the Canes too, no?

4th Lines aka Kampf Lines, minimum 10min (all have probably received pretty similar usage)

ZAR - Kampf - Engvall 25min, 76.1xgf%
ZAR - Kampf - Malgin 23min, 75.6xgf%
Cliff - Kampf - Simm 12min, 35.4xgf%
ZAR - Kampf - NAK 28min, 18.3xgf%

So actually it was good with Engvall in there instead of Malgin too. So that would be one way to promote Malgin.

Malgin and Engvall: Glue guys in the bottom 6. I asked for another glue guy like Engvall down there and they may have got one? Cool.

well simmonds is off the roster at the moment, though yeah they did play him the one game when leafs nation was panicking and the big bad bruins were coming to town.

My point wasn't that he's not playing. I'm saying his competition is Simmonds. Not hard to earn that 12 spot as mediocre as he has been.

I don't mind making him earn it a bit. His play was poor for a bit there.

Sure, but when a veteran has a few bad games they're allowed to work through their shit. ZAR, Engvall, Bunting, Jarnkrok have all had stretches of absolute dogshit play to start the season and only the guy who was on the PTO sat over it.

I guess the way I look at it is that he earned it by being our best player in pre season. Now it's our turn to be patient and actually give him a look. The more you yo-yo kids, the more tentative they get when given a chance, the more likely to make mistakes, etc.

And Holmberg yeah.. And really Steeves, McMann, ZZ, Anderson too. They're all right there. And thus far Keefe has rewarded the guys who have played the best and ditched/waived those who haven't. So eventually if Robertson keeps struggling he's gonna have a lot of competition on the Marlies. If anything they're being patient with him here I think. As they should.

I think he got a warning shot. I think Keefe legit prefers him in the lineup.

Although really both have arguably earned time over Jarncrok.

it's true. Jarnkrok would be the guy to drop for Holmberg at the moment.

But then again these things can change quick - suddenly ZAR looks effective again, for example.

Fair enough. I definitely reserve the right to change opinion on how Keefe has handled him. Just seeing shades of Lilly here where the kid was obviously one of our best 6 (4) defenders but sat regularly for horseshit defenders because that tie that actually isn't remotely a tie goes to the veteran whether that veteran is actually good or not.
