I hope mirtle doesn't actually have inside info because this looks shit to me. The last thing they need is another 5/6/7 dman. If they can't get a 1/2/3 then forget it.

Really what the Leafs are searching for at this point, more than a surefire Muzzin replacement (given the cost and scarcity of a player like that), is another option who can step in ahead of Conor Timmins on the depth chart and challenge Rasmus Sandin and Holl for minutes late in the year and into the postseason. Ideally it’s a player who can kill penalties and add an element of physicality, clearing the crease and breaking up cycles down low.

Anyway whether there is any actual inside info here or not, I do agree that it's most likely that they are done with the forwards. They just added two good ones and weren't exactly an offensively challenged squad beforehand. I'm just praying for no boosh type acquisition mostly. That's not gonna do jack shit to improve their chances.

Adds to my desire to keep the Sandman, forget about a guy like Ekholm, leave the D as it is, and go for the best forward.

If we didn’t get Nino, I wouldn’t think it’s because we wouldn’t pay extra to have our bid win out. Dubie must be working on something. With him you never know - could blindside and trade the farm for Meier or just be working on a crappy Barbashev deal.
