The Fantastically Beautiful Joyously Superfun 22-23 Season Celebration Thread

McMann I have hope for. He was very unlucky during his first stint to not put up some points. He will do well in the bottom 6

Knies will eventually have an impact in the lineup I just dont see it happening right away

They'll mix it up a bit just like last year and rotate liljegren and holl. But yeah boosh is the mainstay. They got him for Rielly. They effectively traded holl/liljegren and engvall off the playoff roster for schenn

Nahh. Keefe won’t sit Holl when the chips are down. It’ll be Lilly.

We spent so much time evaluating/playing junk this year instead of trusting our own development system...

ZAR - 58 games
NAK - 6 games
Simmonds - 13 games
Malgin - 23 games
Hunt - 9 games
Clifford - 2 games

That we have no idea what our in house kids are and we're stuck with "hope" that they're something that can help.

McMann looked like a AHL stud all year, we played him 8 games. Holmberg has some of the most intriguing nerdies on the team but he's played more than 13 minutes in a game 5 times this season. Steeves saw 2 games and looked good in both. Anderson looked great on the 4th line but couldn't get consistent playing time. I'm assuming glasses traded him to help his career because Keefe was done with him for whatever reason.

never know with the kids....midget/non-playoff sized Caufield had a productive post after 10 NHL games...he certainly did not look out of place for the most part

Keep in mind that if knies was born 2 weeks earlier he’d be a d+3 player now.

He’s pretty well baked.

Not sure what the ceiling is but with his size and game he shouldn’t be a guy who needs too much time in the minors.

that'd be my biggest beef....cut bait early with Clifford/Simmonds to create space.

It's not like you can't find similar retreads later if you must

Most were worried about his lack of skating being the bigger issue.

Im hoping Minnesota lose in the first round so they can get him in the lineup right away

It's so easy to fish for waiver wire junk if you just can't make it to the deadline with the kids.

But based on how the kids looked in limited reps, we would have been fine.

Let's say it's December 1 and Keefe is pulling his fucking hair out because the kids suck. Are guys like Jost, Sheahan, Bellows, Megna, Carpenter, Tolvanen, etc really much worse than the group we ended up playing? All of those guys were waiver fodder in November-early December alone.

This is a good point.

I kept hoping they were just doing what they’ve done at times in the past and were giving the kids a lot of AHL playing time for the first half of the season before having them replace the vet NHL junk full-time for the second half of the season.

But we just stuck with the junk all year and never gave the kids a real opportunity.

So Kyle said after the schenn trade he knew he was done. While cj and some other "insiders" were saying he was working the phones and planning something major, Kyle was basically just chilling all day. What a cock tease.

coaches getting to decide their 4th line reminds me of that silly oldtimey baseball thing when managers got to decide their 25th player and 10th pitcher.....but with consequences that are way worse

For me McMann is more of a ZAR replacement than a third line guy. But yes I do think it's very possible he will provide more than ZAR and that should be explored.

They have a fuckton of 4th line options and I'm not sure they're all that different from each other. Scoring will be minimal outside of maybe jarnkrok in their bottom six. Hopefully he can have his first career decent playoff.

could be a guy with top 6 upside who is already NHL-ready for a bottom 6 role

Tie goes to the veteran...even when the veteran is junk, and it's not really a tie.

Fuck coaches, they're the fucking worst.
