The Fantastically Beautiful Joyously Superfun 22-23 Season Celebration Thread

It'd be really nice if Knies was ready but it's a big ask for a 20 year old to step right into the playoffs with three regular season games. They seem to think he's ready to contribute though.

Gonna bump this up since this is where we stand on this year vs last year. Granted, with a little luck they would have beaten Tampa, but it's a lot of wheeling and dealing and trading draft capital to end up in the same spot while making the same mistakes really.
Ya I'd love to see this with draft picks in and out as well, but I'm too lazy to do it.

Maybe we all look dumb when he does show up but it would be nice to have more then 3 games to get a better idea what he can bring.

They're really hanging their hats on the "playoffs are just different" bit but without actually having gone out and gotten proven playoff performers as replacements. This has a whole "play the white way" feel to the moves.

I mean, here are our replacements to last year's forward group

Lafferty: 1GP/0G
Acciari: 54G/4G
Jarnkrok: 75GP/4G
ZAR: 23GP/1G

So lots of turnover but I'm not seeing the improvement in results over the soft bitch boys who don't play manly "playoff hockey" they're replacing. ROR (definitely a playoff beast historically) is the only real upgrade.

The problem they really seem to be trying to address is "we need more guys who will block shots with their face". Basically Sheldon wants guys who play the brand of hockey he's convinced wins in the playoffs. I'm not sure if the tail is wagging the dog or if our front office was really never firm in their convictions that we needed to be fast and skilled all through the lineup to win.

Schenn isn't going to sit in the playoffs. Not happening.

ROR: 64 gp/22 g

Why does our biggest acquisition of a legit top 6 forward not count? Thats what we need the most.

Where did I say that he didn't count? I referenced him directly as a playoff beast in the post. The overall point still holds though. We swapped a lot of deck chairs and replaced playoff flops with playoff flops that just play differently but have track records no different than the soft bitches we replaced.

That's a whole lot of player movement to add one guy who has done anything positive in his playoff career.

Also...I'd argue that we didn't need a 2C at all for kind of obvious reasons.

I just don't want Kerfoot as 2LW BARF.....but what sucks is I know we are going to see him stapled there.

2. The flipping genius of pridham with the cap manipulation. That guy probably studies stoicism, because he plans for every probable outcome including when it all goes to shit, so that he's never surprised

3. I know the NCAA frozen four isnt anything close to the NHL let alone the playoffs... But they are the playoffs for college and they are 1 and done are they not??? and also he's now gone through this twice AND he technically isn't the best prospect on the line and he isn't scoring as prolific as they are, but you can see he knows how to play with better players... he chips in and he's made some pretty big plays lately.
Put him on a line with the veteren conn smyth winning cup winner in ROR and Jarnkrok or Lafferty or Acciari.
OOORRRR
fourth line with steady Kampf and shitty small but useful Kerfoot.

Bunting Matthews Willy
Kerfoot JT Marner
Knies ROR Kampf
Lafferty Acciari ZAR

I hate Kerfoot there sooo..

Would love to here your opinions... not just laughing. Cuz this took a while to write and I think you know why

Assuming everyone’s healthy, Schenn will be in and Lilly will be sitting out.

We all know it.
They'll mix it up a bit just like last year and rotate liljegren and holl. But yeah boosh is the mainstay. They got him for Rielly. They effectively traded holl/liljegren and engvall off the playoff roster for schenn

The hope now for improving W depth is Knies and McMann. Which to be honest, could still be pretty interesting, IF Knies is ready for prime time. Hopefully McMann will be back asap.

Just thought I'd bug you with the laugh - I'll answer seriously.

I like the idea of Acciari and ROR together.
