The Fantastically Beautiful Joyously Superfun 22-23 Season Celebration Thread

At least they didn't go balls deep for Jeannot. That guy seems legit shit. Dubas should slow down with copying Tampa blindly I think.
They were seriously talking Jeannot up and what he brings during the Habs / Bolts game. Was pretty nauseating.

They rightfully earned the benefit of the doubt to just assume everything they touch and everything they do is gold. But man he's been bad for Tampa so far.

He will of course destroy the Leafs in the playoffs as someone else mentioned but still. For now I can make fun of him.

Nahh…he’s pretty garbo. I don’t really see what he brings to the table.
This is a player that has 22 goals in 201 career NHL games. He was always a bubble guy on a real contender and a clear 4th liner on mostly any other team. His unsustainable shooting percentage this year doesn't change that. If he's on their 4th line, fine I can live with it, but

1. They're using him as a clear 3rd liner so far and
2. Him and ZAR in the same lineup on 2 different lines solves the mystery of "why does the Leafs offense suck right now?" pretty well. They're both black holes and nothing will get accomplished offensively on any line they take part in.

I mean Lafferty is a guy that didn't even make Pittsburgh's playoff roster in his 3 seasons with them, yet he's on the Leafs 3rd line. It's madness that he's being gifted a spot here with such a long leash.

Yeah, him on the 3rd line is just lunacy. I don't understand Keefe at all anymore.

But as a 4th liner, he does have some skill, and his speed is nice. There is potential there to be good in that role.

Not Engvall good, of course, but good.

I don't see what he does that should put him ahead of Holmberg, or McCann, nevermind that we dumped Joey to accomodate him.

Joey on a dogshit team since being waived:

46.5% xG (2nd among regular forwards on Chicago)

Lafferty since joining an elite team

35.9% xG (worst on the team by a lot. A lot)

Lafferty has been worse for us than Hunt was, almost as bad as NAK. Worse than Simmonds. Why do we fucking insist on giving every plug we bring in from shit teams way more rope than our very good young in house options?

Just start trading all of your fucking draft picks and go full draft schmaft if you're simply never going to give young players real opportunities.

Can't disagree there. There was no reason to add him, would've preferred Anderson to stay. But it's done.

I think like most of the guys, he's been worse than he really is. There are some flashes there.

I still don't get, what happened to Keefe and his statements about Holmberg that he basically did everything right and he couldn't find a flaw to complain about? How'd we go from there to the minors?

Also, any time I think of Lafferty, I remember this play against us shortly before the trade. None of the garbage we've trotted out (Simmonds, NAK, Hunt) could do that. There is something there. I feel like we have to be slow to judgment on all the new guys because everyone has been shit. Either they don't gel anymore, or they need time to gel still.

And who more than the Leafs has been friendlier and shaken hands with opponents and wished them good fortune on their further adventures?
