The Fantastically Beautiful Joyously Superfun 22-23 Season Celebration Thread

At least they didn't go balls deep for Jeannot. That guy seems legit shit. Dubas should slow down with copying Tampa blindly I think.

As for Liljegren.. I haven't tracked the nerdies much but since they re-built their d-corps he has looked pretty damn bad. I don't know if it's nerves from feeling the pressure to prove himself or what but he has not been the same. He's making it easy on Sheldon to justify giving his spot to Schenn.

Almost everyone has sucked and I'm sure constant shuffling of the lineups (which is totally normal on an alleged cup contender 15 games before the playoffs start) doesn't have anything to do with it.

well I do recall saying we might not be a top 10 scoring team this year.

we're currently 11th. probably will finish lower than that from the looks of things.

get rid of Michael Therrien with night school credits and Leafs will be a top 5 offence overnight

consider further that the Leafs are the #2 PP team, or were going into last night's game

something clearly doesn't add up here...starting to look more and more like a Keefe problem than a personnel one

I mean, yeah....

But....

If this isn't a crisis, when does it become one? Do we have to be 2 games down in a playoff series before we can call it a crisis? Because this is starting to turn into a decent sized sample.

-14th in xG% since January 1st
-18th in xG% since Feb 1st
-29th in xG% since March 1st

For those who prefer their goals to be real rather than expectedc

- 12th in GF% since Jan 1st
- 9th since Feb 1st
- 19th since March 1st

and if your rebuttal to that is "special teams matter too!"

- 15th in all situations xG% since Jan 1, 16th since Feb 1
- 10th in all situations GF% since Jan 1, 10th since Feb 1

This might be a relative short ~10 game stretch of bad, but it's a longer sample of meh overall. Sure as fuck doesn't look like the obvious contender it was in the 1st half.

Their 3rd line has Acciari and Lafferty on it. I love Acciari and all but man he shouldn't be on a contending teams 3rd line. On the Leafs it's where he belongs tho. Of course Lafferty still doesn't.
I don't mind Acciari as a winger on the third line at all - he's certainly good enough. ROR at center.

It's for sure the worst, most alarming stretch of hockey they've played since the final stint of Babcock hockey. The alarming bit is because this is a sample large enough that we can call it something other than random luck or typical variance. Maybe it's not a crisis but I'm certainly less confident/comfortable about this team than I've been in a long long time.
