The Fucking Offseason Thread - Why bother waiting?

Just watching the Krakheads going full Gud Pro, and Dubas really takes way too much shit for that last season. Foligno was a bust, but other than that he just added a bunch of cheap depth. His big offseason move was Brodie which was a bomb of a home run. And his first move this offseason is McCann.

You can have guys like Simmonds, Thornton, Nash, Bogosian making $1 mill on the bottom lines. That doesn't define the team.

He had a fantastic year in a tough situation, and it was sabotaged by the $11m triplets in the playoffs.

Yeah I'm not falling for that deep fake video of him saying McCann #Nerdknew

Considering the opportunity cost of Seattle selecting Killorn and then trading him away would be giving up a chance to get Gourde or Palat for free, why wouldn’t Seattle ask for a massive return?

If he loses McCann for not protecting him though....

Taking advantage of the Pens and the expansion draft to get McCann for dirt cheap and try to sneak him through the expansion draft is a solid swing to take, I don't care what anyone says. BEtter than not doing that.

They were never not protecting Holl.

It was also a pure analytic move, not a gud pro move. McCann is not seen highly around the league, other than on the stats sheet.

From an outsider perspective, that was pretty slick by the Leafs. They basically traded just about nothing to keep Seattle from picking anyone off their roster by handing them Jared McCann. Seattle wasn't going to pick some dreck guy from the Leafs if the Leafs traded them just Hallender and a 7th as a side agreement.

Why are they trying so hard to keep a roster together that did nothing but choke when it mattered?

Imagine how much more impressed everyone would be if we got Crosby instead of McCann and left him exposed so that we could keep Holl for sure.

I'm not say Dubas is smart to not take the chance to update the roster, I'm just saying what Dubas did was a creative way to get around Seattle asking for some ridiculous price to avoid taking players you don't want to lose. That was pretty slick stuff.

Yeah that's why I asked what they lost for McCann. Seems like Dubas did some good work there.

Does this make Dubas a non-nerd since he doesn't seem to like McCann as much as the nerds?
