The Fucking Season Thread - Redemption Tour '22

Something I mentioned in the off season at the time of the Hyman signing was that it can't be that hard to find someone who can play with Auston & Mitch while managing to get them the puck competently, which I would argue that Hyman was just never did well.

Case in point. Hyman had 2 primary assists on Auston Matthews goals last season and 4 the season prior. 6 total primary assists over 2 seasons playing with one of the best 5v5 goal scorers in history of the game

Bunting has 4 in 33 games.

They moved a good player to get rid of OEL and his massive albatross contract. It definitely wasn't a dump, they did well in that trade imo.

Garland & OEL (6x7.26)for the #9 (Guenther), Eriksson (1x6), Beagle (1x3), Roussell (1x3), 2022 2nd, 2023 7th.

Garland is solid, but 9G 22pts in 31 games isn't the star level performance that some here were projecting him as capable of. That's Bunting (or McCann) production.
What kind of junk is he playing there with though? Him in our top 6 and he’s gotta be PPG himself, I’d think.

Garland is a very good player. The trade made some sense for Vancouver who wanted to win this year (they overpaid, though), and Arizona got a good return while also helping their main goal of weakening the team for top picks.
