The Fucking Season Thread - Redemption Tour '22

I'm flip flopping back to the "they're probably keeping Liljegren down and Brooks up" train. I don't agree with it, but I think that's what is happening here.

Free Lilly!

If the plan is to sit Lilly out for weeks or make him play in the AHL again for the purposes of adding Adam Brooks as extra forward depth and accruing a tiny smidge more cap space, that…seems exceptionally dumb to me.

But what do I know? And it’s entirely possible that’s not the plan, and that no one’s really figured out what cap shenanigans Pridham’s up to yet.

With the Toffoli domino falling so soon, I'm expecting early trade activity this year, and Dubie is always one of the earliest.

I really don't think they're doing that to Lilly when he's going like he's going. I think Zeke posted 8 points in the last 14. You don't fuck with that.

I'm betting that is the plan unless they find a way to unloading fat dick Nick in the meantime, which is possible and maybe even likely. But I suspect they did this willingly even assuming that they are unable to trade him in the next couple of weeks.

I don't know why they would just waive him again because Vegas is sure to claim him to put him on their AHL team, no?

Funny thing is, I bet there are teams that wouldn't mind having Ritchie at his full salary through next year. But because they know we need to get rid of him, they're holding out for payment to take him too.

it's most likely too early for Dubas yet with a trade. with limited cap he might have to make his move closer to the deadline than he might ordinarily prefer.

Why do you think that?
Keefe hinted that the d will look different tomorrow before the Brooks news hit. Plus Vegas will just pick up Brooks since they can put him straight to the AHL. I can't see why they wouldn't just do that? In that case what's the point in the leafs picking him up at all?

I mean they could have put dermott out there in his spot in practice but they didn't.

Also, does Vegas even care really?

Seems bizarre that the Leafs would rather have an apparently injured Brooks on the roster instead of Liljegren.

If there's one thing we know about the Leafs, they don't let cap issues dictate anything.

I doubt they're willing to stunt Lilly temporarily to pick up extra 4th line depth. Unless they want to showcase Dermott for the next two weeks. If that's not the case, there should be some upcoming move we'll hear about soon.

He said he wasn't sure if they had the appetite to pay that much. He said a "source" told him that the leafs were gonna do one of three things: get a d, get a forward or do nothing.

Folks. He needed a source to tell him that.
