The Fucking Season Thread - Redemption Tour '22

It’s amazing to watch how Sandin and Lilly went from being on the outside looking in to suddenly pretty close to key regulars. Or as Frenemy calls them, “busts”.

Prospect fatigue mostly I think. Feels like Liljegren has been in North America for a decade, but he's still a baby. And to make this sort of impact that this age as a D in the NHL is not at all common. The narrative on him continues to be bizarre across the media outlets.

I think Leafs prospects naturally get more attention immediately so it feels to people that they have been in the system longer than they have or that there is something abnormal about guys taking that long.

Timmy for sure has been victim to that. Some people asked quite a few times what’s wrong with Robertson. Nothing actually, aside from injury issues. Entirely normal progression. We just don’t have a microscope on other teams’ prospects’ progression.

beat me to it but yuppp.

It's also an issue that no one has any idea how to evaluate what a good defensive dman looks like. It's a little more than big hitz and no noticeable turnovers but I'm not sure the talking heads realize this.

Maybe just use good ol' fashioned objective, unbiased data?

I’ll give Lyubushkin a little bit longer but he is not what I thought we were getting at all so far. I was hoping for a crease clearer come playoff time and instead I just see guys getting to the front uncontested while he’s out there.

its funny how tough physical presences don't ever actually look that tough or physical when you watch them every shift.

Thank god we don’t have dummies in the front office. A guy like JFJ would’ve moved Liljegren like 2 years ago.

The amount you can bury is 750k in 2022-2023 and 775k in 2023-2024 = clifford’s aav of 762.5k. Pure Marlies deal.
I thought you could busy $1.075 this year without cap implications?

Oh yup, you’re totally right. This is just minimum salary each year.

But clearly a Marlies signing regardless

I remember that year that it seemed like everyone was overage they drafted... it was like they tried one strategy one year and then completely changed it afterwards
