I think you and I were the only ones not clamoring for a goalie trade. Fucking waste of assets. They’re all garbage, or not. And can’t know when they’ll be which.

I was maybe fine with it but it had to make sense and only if they used Muzzin LTIR space. Otherwise, you don't waste legit assets on a backup goalie if it's all you can afford. That's ridiculous. Why would you prioritize that over adding another top 4 d like Gio?

Was never big on Fleury for this year though. He always just felt like a name that no one did any homework on. But he's old and has been on good teams and has had some great years in the regular season in the past so that was good enough for most.

you know what's extra funny?

for all the crying about Dubas being a pussy for following the rules - he totally abused ltir with Mrazek to be able to get Gio and stay under the cap.

with mrazek miraculously now skating with the team just in time for playoffs.
 
If Jack goes down to injury or is struggling, I’d still rather have .905 Fleury to turn to than Kallgren or Mrazek.

Especially for the cost of a 2nd round pick that only becomes a 1st if Fleury picks up four wins in the first two rounds.

But hey, we’ll see how it turns out! If Campbell stays healthy and plays well for the entirety of our playoff run, then Dubas will have gambled & won where our goaltending is concerned.

If we added any goalie, I would've wanted it to be Fleury, but I wasn't down for trading 1sts for a backup to play the role that Freddy did in the playoffs last year. You don't pay 1sts for insurance. Especially at a position that is fucking uninsurable! Plus it would fuck with Jack's head to have Fleury and Mrasuck behind him itching for a chance, and I'm a big believer in shielding goalies' fragile egos.

Any I prioritized adding to the forwards more than any other position if we were going to add with Muzzin's cap space. I would've taken a Giroux or Forsberg way before any other goalie because goalies did not lose us the last two playoffs imo. Forwards did.
