The ****ing Pre-Season/Training Camp Thread (2019/20)

Helluva call there.
Mid season zebra form

I don't know if Kerfoot is a better hockey player than the 2018-19 version of Naz Kadri. But I do know that his speed looks a lot better in our transition game than Naz did.

That Matthews half clapper/one timer is uhhh...nasty looking.

If that becomes a thing, the boy might score 60.

Kerfoot is really good through the middle of the ice and, yeah, def more speed. Plus, we won't get penalties for getting punched in the face.

and wow were we missing anything with skill on RHD. Barrie is a breath of fresh air on the right.

Ceci also pretty skilled with the puck, and a huge upgrade from Zaitsev. Barrie-Ceci over Hainsey-Zaitsev is just night and fucking day, and isn't being talked about nearly enough outside of this board.

Yeah they just keep talking that it's bad or they aren't sure because it's new players. I get that with Ceci but it's really weird how the Barrie pick up hasn't been talked about more.

and Kerfoot is unlikely to get the red mist every time Boston cheap shots on of our guys. Having a 3C available for the entire series will be good for a change.

Yeah, I get not taking the Ceci addition on faith (I sure as fuck didn't) but we don't even need him to be "good", just better than Zaitsev, who might have been one of the worst top 4 defenders in the league last year. Early returns are that he's capable of that, and his strength is in moving the puck competently without panic. Our break outs look so much.fucking.better during the pre season.

But not beating the Barrie drum is crazy. The guy is one of the top 10 puck movers in the league.

Yep. That last suspension was unforgivable. I mean, fuck, he could just dropped the gloves and started wailing -- 2 minutes extra. Nah, cranks him in the head stick first. Brain, off.

Isn't it nice to finally get a player with one of these Russian free wallets? It's preseason and all but I can't see Mikheyev being anything less than a capable 3W. Guy is good defensively too.

I think Dubas moves him regardless, if that package comes available. But Naz sure made it a lot easier with that.

I'm finding it hilarious how great Cecil's possession numbers are so far.

57.6cf% 66.7xgf% coming in, and 62.0cf% 63.4xgf% so far tonight.

Oh, for sure. It made complete sense to move him. He was dropping off already. Might be pretty ineffective in a year or so.

There was one play at the end there where he didn't chase a puck and held his position defensively near the blue line and whoa seems this guy knows what he's doing out there

It's preseason but it matches the eye test. It does indeed look like the guy just needed someone who can play hockey beside him.

If Ceci can be this good over the season, that's a huge bonus no one (but maybe Dubas) was expecting.

On a less positive note, I'm increasingly concerned about Kappy's offensive limitations. Not great passing skill and weak vision too.
