After last night's bizzaro usage of personnel and allotment of ice time by the kindly old coach, it might be time to have a thread just dedicated to him, as opposed to discussing his inability to think on the fly in every GBU thread. Sal, the floor is yours. Fire away.
I get the usage of DD last night - it's called knowing who butters u'r bread. Showing up u'r boss (for signing DD to that deal) in game 1 of the season only expedited the process to hitting the unemployment line.
Having said that, many here were cringing of the Markov-Diaz pairing, on cue they stunk up the joint. It was clear the Leafs focused on separating Diaz & Markov from the pack to exploit them, for DD, Briere, Plekanec, and Gionta game plan was to play the game against the boards & in the corners avoid open ice at all costs, again Carlyle strategy accomplished.
Mental midget had counter to either strategy. I get it mental midget is not a high end tactician. Or communicator like Julien, Babcock, Walrus or Carlyle (albeit acid tongued), but I felt he deserved another chance (Habs coach), because he "went to school" since his departure from the Pens - I was wrong, he's a moron akin to the moron club on RDS, Bergeron et al.
There's no cerebral capability whatsoever in him, let alone strategic capability - a pure rah rah type guy, who in this day and age of specialized skill sets is going to look like a fool over time.
