The Mother-fucking goddamn Off-season Thread

For sure. Kinda hard to see that happening though, for a guy who’s played 86 games in the last three-and-a-half years.
With 8 points in 35 career NHL games with many of those games playing with some elite players. Injuries and lack of production is a bad combo. But he'll be 22 by the time next season starts and has been decent enough in the ahl so I could see some teams wanting to take a flyer on him... If they get a deal.

I mean if he's the main asset that goes in a deal for a legit quality player on a good contract then i'm probably ok with it.
I'm probably great with it.

I love his speed and talent, and unlike Presty, don't think he looked like total shit in his NHL stints. But I hate injury prone players. He could be the best player in the world, but if he only plays 40 games a year and misses the playoffs every other year, he's worthless to me. And this seems to be that kind of guy.

I have no eye test for Laughton but those numbers are pretty good if he's playing a bottom six role for them - but is he?

Laughton's been used in a versatile middle 6 role - some C, some W, sometimes on a scoring line sometimes on a checking line. He's maintained positive relative nerdies while getting some of the tougher usage on the team. He's pretty gritty and physical though not the greatest skater. Basically he plays Kerfoot's role but a completely opposite style of play. GSVA likes Kerfoot a bit better but when you look under the hood Laughton's nerdies relative to his team have probably been better, and Laughton probably has a better chance of being an effective C....but he hasn't been able to be a fulltime C on the flyers even though they needed Cs.

He would definitely be a nice fit here, with a very affordable 3 x $3.0m contract.

If he costs us Robertson, though, it better be not much more than just robertson.

Gives us another Oakville boy as well.

Eh, not sure a guy like that is what I'd want to move Robertson for.

I would like them to put a premium on speed this summer. No more slow guys. Bottom six should be all speed demons. Now, if they add this guy and the other 4-5 of the bottom liners are fast and good, then okay.

31gms @10mpg at ages 19-20-21.

have we learned nothing.
hey I'm a big lil Nickie fan. but the results so far at the NHL level have not been ideal. of course it's a teensy sample and he keeps getting hurt. but when he's played, he hasn't necessarily been great. didn't think that was an issue in dispute

I feel treliving is going to focus on defense.

That's why hanafin and I hope he sniffs around the jets for d as well

Seems a bit foolish to tear apart our D. It's been very good and will be better if Lilly is given a starring role. Brodie and Gio still look like they can hold the fort for another year, and once Gio leaves at the end of the year, and Brodie either leaves or reups on a short deal for cheaper, they can focus on adding a bigger name then. After they let Lilly cement himself, and see what Timmins brings. D is pretty solid.

As usual, they really need to focus on the forwards, by adding a big name to the top six and reshaping that shit bottom six.

That said...if Brodie were to go down with injury or something, we do suddenly look depleted. Rielly Lilly McCabe and then you've got Gio and Timmins next. So I guess it wouldn't be a bad idea to add a dman now, but they need to add one who brings offense.

Fucking Dubas dumping Sandin. Fuck that guy.
