Yeah, I'm generally a fan of now being the time to do heavy lifting and filling obvious holes at the deadline. Top 6, Top 4, & 1A should be settled and you should be pretty happy with it.

Nylander is so much more important to this team than anyone gives him credit for.

In any seemingly "even" trade, we will lose our fucking shirts, I guarantee it.

They need to extend him, and for 8 years.

That'd be a tough trade to make since, as I've mentioned before, Brodie is the best defensive D I've ever seen play for the Leafs. He should really be a top priority to stay, and if he's just as good this year, give him another couple of years on a cheaper extension.
 
100% agree. Do as much as you can now. Make the changes before training camp so we see exactly what we need at the deadline.
 
I think I'm with LOF here. I'm not sure Brodie has anywhere near the value on the trade market as he does for the leafs, even as a rental.

I'm all for exploring a trade tho and finding the next "guy" back there. Because they need one and I don't think it's optional. I'm good with them trading anyone and anything but they better not botch it and get the wrong dude. Thats my only ask.
 
Not that I’d agree with it but maybe Tree moves Reilly. He was looking kinda rough prior to the playoffs(he kicked ass in the playoffs).

Sure, but 33 is 33 and if we can replace him now with a similar guy whose age starts with a 2, do it.

He's very good, but he's not uniquely incredible or anything. With that said, I'd rather do Jarnkrok + McCabe for a McCabe upgrade in the 4-5 million dollar range.
 
Maybe that’s the move that gets you one of those Calgary packages as Reilly is locked in long term. Knowing how Calgary or Winnipeg can’t keep guys.

He would know Chicago pretty well and I'm sure he's done his own scouting of the former black hawks
But mcabe at 2. 2 is pretty good value. Yes he and Brodie became exposed but he was still new to the team and he still laid the body a bit to make him seam pretty good value

Just listened to it. Luke implied that Klingberg said that Tre told him more is coming after signing Bertuzzi and Domi. He misheard. It was before. Seemed weird that he'd spill the beans like that. Luke just got it wrong.

But carry on with the speculation folks! This is fun.
 
I thought of the idea of hellybuck with samsonov as a starter piece. But I still want a big defenseman that can skate.

Is Hanafin that guy? Could you give Calgary a Brodie, Jarnkrok, (for term)and maybe lafferty plus an IR Murray (can you do cash considerations?) for Hanafin/andersson and Vladar maybe add more for backlund to be thrown in
