The Motherfucking 2021 Playoffs Thread

Easy for LeafFan to brag that their fanbase is calm cool and collected.

Let's see what happens when they win something. Anyone who has read anything about crowd behaviour understands that it just takes a few bad apples to instigate mayhem. Something to do with the "threshold effect".

In his book, “Everything is Obvious: How Common Sense Fails Us” sociologist Duncan Watts asks us to imagine a crowd of 100 people. The first person is willing to riot all by themselves; they have a threshold of zero. The second person has a threshold of one (meaning they need to see one other person rioting before they will too), the second of two . . . and so on, all the way up to 99. It’s easy to see that this crowd is almost certain to riot, because as soon as the first person throws a rock, the second person will join in, and each new rioter will trigger the threshold of the next until the whole crowd is involved.
Zeke is not "Leaf fan".

In fact I'm pretty sure he's at one of the extremes. The pacifist leaf fan that will send snarky tweets just to show you!

?

I said you're not necessarily worse if you cheer for a particular team. But you can most definitely be a superior human being for cheering for one, as is the case with Leafs fans. They are without fault and would never do anything harmful other than maybe shoot someone at a NBA championship parade from time to time.

You get it. My post was directed at those that do not.

It's zeke FFS. You guys have been zeked. AVERT YOUR EYES!

He wasn't the only one that posted the Vancouver riots could never happen in Toronto.

Anyway, the threshold effect has long fascinated me.

I dunno. I've seen Montrealers or Vancouverites pull out this line before when defending their history of rioting, but it doesn't really ring true to me. The Raptors won a championship just a couple of years ago, and the Blue Jays went to the ALCS twice in the past decade. Farther back, between the 90's and the early 00's, the Jays won two championships and the Leafs made it to the third round four times.

Whatever the reason or underlying causes, the bottom line is there weren't riots in Toronto on any of those occasions.

You know none of us can read, asshole.

I think it needed to be said: Hab fans getting bashed now....and this board heavily bashed Canuck fans years ago for their ridiculous riots.

The argument is that Toronto is immune to that sort of nonsense. We will see (eventually)
Is it only hockey? I don't remember anyone burning down the city when the Raptors won? Or lost prior to the win?

there is no bullshit in what he said, which is what makes trump trump.
Literally how Trump acted after winning the 2016 election. Insult Hillary and her supporters.

It's douchebag shit. You love it... That's cool.

I think the point is that you can't play 1995 smash mouth hockey then bitch out with death threats and whining. It doesn't reconcile. If your going to "man up" then do so and take the slings and arrows. We had our fun, it's time for others to have theirs.
