I'm all for pumping Keefe's tires on the job he's done with this team's defensive performance, especially when compared to Babpenis. There's no question he's a better defensive coach that the Cock ever was.

But swapping out Ceci for Brodie was far from the only major change on defense since last season.

Last year, we had:

  • Muzzin & Holl as a pairing for only a portion of the season

  • Five-on-five tire-fire Tyson Barrie playing in every single game

  • Rielly out for a third of the season to injury, and when he was in the lineup he was obviously broken.

  • Muzzin & Dermott both out for significant periods due to injury

  • Martin fucking Marincin playing in almost 40% of our games

Rielly 52.9% - Barrie 52.8%/Ceci 52.3%
Muzzin 57.7% - Holl 57.8%
Dermott 55.3% - Barrie 52.8%/Ceci 52.3%

Definitely some exploiting market inefficiencies. Wickenheiser is a GOAT hockey mind. The men version all were immediately give an opportunity to run a team (Shanny, Yzerman, Sakic, Francis). Getting her to run development is a steal.

She is still doing her residency at the same time as working for the Leafs too. Some crazy work ethic.
