The New Division

ROSTER (35 percent): All three teams average.
PROSPECTS (25 percent): Do not know enough about leafs or sens prospects.
CAP/CONTRACTS (20 percent): Leafs is bad. Habs is okay. No clue about sens.
OWNER/GM/COACH (20 percent): Really have no clue how to rate this.

no one outside of montreal or the idiot staff at espn (that noted hotbed of hockey knowledge) thinks montreal is the 5th best team in the league.

Ugh... your reading comprehension is beyond atrocious. (U reed bad)

A. These ratings are more of a prediction for the 2016-17 season
2. Even if they were talking about current teams the Habs finished 4th in the league season you putz.

youngest team in the league, 9th place last year, 26th best future. makes sense.

horrible cap

dont think age of the team works into the formula
but assuming they do... how many of your core players will be better in 3 years?
I can only think of Kadri as being a good bet to be better.

No he's not... and there's no gap to get wider.

Yeah, he is. Even on one leg in the playoffs he was superior to Subban.

Carey Price just turned 26. At that age Craig Anderson was putting up a mediocre AHL season

He's also choked in almost every NHL playoffs he's played in. If he can't handle the pressure of the playoffs he doesn't have much potential as an NHL goalie.

I believe the topic is based on potential...

And one player isn't enough to be rated highly. Even if he is the best young forward amongst the eastern Canadian teams, he's more likely to top out as a Hossa than a Crosby.

Why does Kessel have to improve? Why does a PPG player need to get better for us to not be 26th?

And no to JVR? JVR can't get better?... why the **** not exactly?

why are you swearing?

Yes I said no to JVR. He finished third on your team in points. Not sure he will do much better. What feel free to change him to a maybe.

The point I was making had nothing to do with your placement at 26...it had to do with whether or not being young mattered.

... shouldn't it matter if our core is young for power rankings for 2016-2017?

And the swearing was confusion not anger. :D

Based on what? Stop pulling this BS out of your ass. Young players often improve, the oldest person on that list is Franson at 26 and they have not even hit their prime years yet.

And the ROSTER is young in 2013 which should bode well for 2016-2017.

Seems pretty logical to me...

player by player sure

just like i dont think chara will be good in 3 years, etc

but i dont think reimer will put up much better than 0.924
and i dont think kessel will turn into a 100 point player

a lot of those young players are already damn good

i dont expect karlson, price, subban, max pac, etc to improve either

You know this is about looking ahead 3 years, right?

yes

what is your point?

in three years there is a good chance none of the coaches are around either...yet that is a category as well

trades happen...hell kessel and double dion could walk (signing them will make the cap go up)

but you have to base on current information

so yes...your cap isnt quite as bad as philly etc...relative to other teams i have no clue how you would call having a cap squeeze with the youngest team in the league anything but horrible

not sure how they take into account internal caps, etc

I'm really not following your argument here. Why does Kessel need to improve? He's already a PPG guy. We have a good team now and it's one of the youngest rosters in the league. So why are we 26th?
