The New Division

Wiercioch already played for you last year, scoring at a ~40pt pace. He's not new.

macarthur will have to have the best season of his career to pick up the slack from alfredsson.

In fairness, I suspect Ryan will replace Alfredsson. But seriously, Clarke MacArthur is the Sens fourth best scoring option up front right now........but there's no problem with their scoring depth, no.

Using that criteria, the Leafs are also adding Joffrey Lupul and Jake Gardiner. Which would mean that in one off season the Leafs added two top six wingers, two thirds of their third line, two top four defensemen and a possible starting goaltender.

I'd agree with Lupul but Gardiner was available for most of last season. He just wasn't good enough to crack the roster over guys like Fraser and Kostka.

All in addition to a core of players that finished ahead of the Senators last season.

There is no logical reason anyone would put the Senators ahead of the Leafs.

Do you really believe that Clarkson, Bolland, Bernier, Raymond, Ranger and Lupul are more significant contributors than Spezza, Karlsson, Michalek, Ryan, Cowen and MacArthur?

You're either an idiot or a below average troll.

Well covered ground around here, Gardiner missed most of the NHL season with a concussion.

Name calling is a sure sign of someone with intellectual limitations.

Gardiner was healthy enough to play 12 games before he was scratched for five consecutive games. What happened? Did his concussion suddenly return, did he get misdiagnosed that he was healthy to play when he wasn't or was he just not good enough to crack the lineup?

Way to miss the point.

The argument is that you have no depth. I'll put Kadri, Kessel, Lupul, JvR, Phaneuf and Gardiner up against your core and say it's comparable.

But the Leafs are just that much deeper that once you push beyond the core guys you've still got Bozak, Clarkson (30 goal scorer), Kulemin (30 goal scorer), Bolland, Raymond (25 goal scorer), Gunnarsson, Franson and Ranger.

Unless your core five guys are going to play all 60 minutes, you still need depth to win hockey games. Take as evidence the last three cup winners the Hawks, Bruins and Kings. All incredibly deep teams.

Or a low tolerance for stupidity, take your pick.

You've perhaps never heard of PCS?

I think you're the one missing the point. How would the the two teams have finished last season if Toronto had Phaneuf & Kessel out of the lineup for most of the season while Ottawa didn't lose Karlsson & Spezza to injury? I think Ottawa would have won the division while Toronto would have missed the playoffs. And that's because of depth.

Depends, would Toronto have received .935% goaltending in this scenario and been 9-8 before Dion went down to injury?

More like just being an a-hole.

I do have a certain type of charm at times, yes

Care to provide a link where it was stated he was out of the lineup with that instead of being a healthy scratch?

I guess we'll add concussions to the growing list of things you don't quite grasp. All after effects of a concussion are PCS, and a base line evaluation can be taken and passed while a player is suffering from PCS. It tooks Gardiner a little bit of additional time to get back to normal after a concussion, this is not an abnormal situation. Almost everyone who returns from a concussion has a fairly lengthy period of time before they're back to normal. I'd like to say that I'm surprised someone would bark up this tree, but considering who it is, I'm not.

Instead of babbling on about PCS and cheap insults can you just answer my simple question? Or did you not understand it?

I answered your question.

You're asking for a link concerning the media being told that he was sat for PCS, when there's tons of medical documentation on the effects of PCS. Your question is irrelevant. Basically you're suggesting that a player coming back from concussion is 100% as soon as he's deemed fit to play when we have copious amount of player history to go on that suggests the exact opposite.

I understood your question fine, apparently my answer was too much for you though.

Here's the situation...

You're suggesting that a former 1st round pick, NHL all rookie team member wasn't good enough to keep 2 NHL journeymen/ahl plugs out of the lineup

I'm suggesting that he still hadn't returned to full form after a concussion, further evidenced by him being fantastic 3-4 weeks later after his benching, in the playoffs against the Bruins.

You're so confident that said former 1st round pick, NHL all rookie team member isn't better than Kostka & Fraser that you feel comfortable enough to question my intelligence for politely attempting to educate you on the effects of PCS.

Seriously, that's what's happening here.

Do you see why you got banished back to HFboards in the first place?

You're not answering anything. You're making an assumption on why he was sat. If I'm wrong about why he was sat I'd prefer to base it upon something other than your medical expertise on a player you've never treated.

:lol Wtf? Do you expect him to have an Attending Physician Statement or something?

Did you graduate from koreaboy's class or something? Or are you just having a hard time following along. To make things easier for you, I'll give you a heads up. A link confirming Gardiner was sat our for PCS is not the same as an attending physician statement.

Yeah, not really sure why the **** you're going on about how he's wrong since he's not Gardiner's doctor though.

It's pretty much common knowledge what happened with Gardiner. Google it.
