I'd think the Sens would have an easier time getting out of their own end with a one man breakout in Karlsson playing half the game.
I don't really understand how the Sens had so many shot against if they were trapping. Trapping teams keep the shot count down, not get huge performances from their goalies.

Sure, but it's not like Karlsson missed all of last season. He missed 31 games. Don't fall into the trap of pretending like he wasn't there last year for a chunk of the season and that he's like an entirely new addition to the bubble team they were last season.
Lack of uninjured NHL talent on the roster?
Trapping is a style or strategy, not an outcome. Any strategy can produce results worse than intended. The Sens absolutely were a tight trapping team last season, and they gave up a lot of shots. They also received incredible goaltending...do the math.

This Sens team looks remarkably similar to the 92pt Sens team from '10-11, with maybe slightly more scoring depth thanks to the youngsters (though Butler/Regin/Filatov/etc. were hyped that year just as much as Conacher/Ziba/Pageau are this year, so maybe that's not even true).
They've swapped out Alfie for Ryan, Foligno/Butler for Mac/Conacher, Gonchar/Kuba for Methot/Corvo, and that's about it.
And that year saw a whole whack of Sens produce about as well as could possibly be hoped for.
The only real argument for improvement is that this crop of Sens kids will be better than that crop of Sens kids.

What nightmare? We lost a playoff series, it's ancient history now. We moved out about 2 days after it was over.

Heh. By "moving on" do you mean caterwauling for weeks, and now turning into months, about reffing, or dirty hits, or injuries, or "kicked in" goals, or bad goaltending, or we got lucky?
There hasn't been a fanbase who took more of a collective premenstrual hissy fit over a series loss ever than habs nation of 2013.

Do you still think we're moping about that series still? We only mention things about it when you guys mention it, as it is truly your most crowning moment as a franchise. Please, I beg of you, find the last time a Habs fan on these boards brought up that series when it was not a direct reply to a Sens fan mentioning it first? Bet you that the last time that happened was probably early May.

And here I thought the Sens were the last team of our 3 to a) advance to the second round, b) win the President's trophy, c) win the Conference championship and d) play in the Stanley Cup final...

Ooooh now this isn't true and you know it. You guys went on forever about several of the Leafs-Sens series, from being the more talented team to our superior goaltending to the penalty drawn by Domi to Bob Cole calling games, it was as if the Leafs had performed crimes against humanity and Sensfan brought a litany of accusations to the UN.
Hell, I still hear Senators fans claim they were (mistakenly) only one goal away from the Cup finals in 2003, mistakenly because a 3-2 third period score where the Senators would score ONE goal would merely tie the game, necessitating a SECOND goal in overtime to win the game.
And before you start on us, I'll gladly admit Leafs fans hang on to certain things as well, but we tend to let things go long before the media and opposing fanbases stop picking the scabs.
