The New Division

The kicker here is that Kessel isn't a 35/45 guy. He's a 35/50 guy. So yes, a 35/35 guy isn't particularly closer to a 35/50 guy.

We're going by labels at 15/16 now? Kessel has never come close to Crosby production...some prediction.

They've always been the same class of player - only until the past year and a half has there been any separation between the two. Sorry, just the facts.

You asked the question. Don't cry because you don't like the answer.

I just told you the facts. Kessel was better than Ryan at 15/16 and always was expected to be a star, and that never changed. Never will.

No. Poeple are saying Bobby Ryan isn't anywhere near as good as Kessel.

The fact that Ryan has been a 55 point players isn't our issue. Its yours.

Yeah, you're being pretty selective in what you're reading corks. People took offense when you offhandedly compared Kessel and Ryan as if their recent performance makes them look like similar players.

Then people heaped statistics upon statistics on you (even ones you specifically requested) that show that Kessel has been far superior to Ryan over the past several seasons, and you're caught up on some made up 55 pt issue?

Kadri is an elite offensive talent, Ottawa fans better get used to him. ****, if he was an Ottawa player, I can only imagine the comparisons he would be garnering right now.

Mikael Renberg put up a 99 point pace for the shortened season in 94-95 at the same age as Kadri and never came close to even a point per game pace again.

But to say he isn't comparable to Kessel means he is a 55 point player.

Because there isn't much of a difference between a guy who gets 35/70 and a guy that gets 35/82.

Certainly not a big enough gulf to suggest the players arent in the same class.

This is what people are debating Corks:

Holy hell, Kessel hasn't even had two full seasons of elite production but you guys think it's as if they aren't comparable players.

When this is disproved, you changed your argument to nobody thinks he can score more than 55 points, which is completely baseless as well. Plenty of people think he can more than a 55 point player.

Kadri put up elite numbers in junior and in the AHL too. .

He's put up elite numbers everywhere.

There's a reason why he was a top 7 pick. A player your own GM was trying to trade up to get.

But keep hoping!

Edit: Not to mention, Renberg played big minutes on a line with Lindros and LeClair that year while Kadri played 16 minutes a game with Komarov and MacArthur. Terrible example.

No, that's just not true at all. The options are not limited to a) Ryan is a 55 pt player, and b) Ryan is a 70 pt player (there are a whole 15 different numbers in between...crazy, I know!). You're being totally disingenuous here in an attempt to try and salvage your initial (and ludicrous) point.

Heh. Have to agree to disagree on that faultess logic.

Not much difference between Spezza and Ribeiro either than in your strange world.

Ottawanians.

Kessel has played at 82 and 88 point paces the last 2 years. He's been a top 10 NHL scorer 2 years in a row.

One season of 70 points from Ryan still doesn't make him comparable.

It's hilariously that you're using a season that hasn't even happened, and based on that, concluded that he's comparable to Kessel.

KB would be proud of this argument.

Michael Renberg played on Eric Lindros' wing and had hands of stone. Naz Kadri played on various lines with Frattin, Kulemin, MacArthur etc and has hands dipped in gold.

Alexei Zhamnov 111 point pace in 94-95. Same age. Hands dipped in gold. Never had a season like that again.

Zhamnov played at 70+ point levels multiple times in his career.

What does Zhamnov scoring at an ungodly 111 point level in one season have to do with anything? Who is arguing that Kadri is going to be a 110 point player?
