The New Division

Am i saying he's Marty st.louis? No. I'm not even saying he's a lock to be an NHL impact player. But the way he looked, the skill, smarts, skating, heart, and hockey sense he showed when the bullets were flying in the playoffs

Against Montreal. One of the few teams in the league that he's not massively undersized compared to. Beware of small samples.

suggest at the very least he's a good prospect.

No, it really doesn't.

It really doesn't matter if leaf fans like you think otherwise. He is what he is.

and we shall see what he is, I'm more than willing to discuss wagers if you'd like.

Are you familiar with the name Chris Kontos by chance?

There's too many to name really. Pageau's streak just happened to occur in a first round playoff series, but every year there's a pile of players who will go on to do very little in their careers that have a bit of an uncanny stretch of games. Remember Jeremy Williams?

You were probably still kicking the slats out of your crib when kontos had his big year. Pageau is a much better skater than kontos was, and shows a more well-rounded game.

Look, you people are being goofy here. I'm not saying he's a bonafide blue chip, sure fire top 6 NHL player. But after what he showed this year, to argue he isn't even a prospect is just flat out stupid.

If pageau scores 10 or more goals in the NHL in any of the next three seasons, ME needs to use a picture of him in his avatar.

No one's arguing that Pageau's not a prospect. He's just not a particularly good one and you guys are placing far too much of an emphasis on a limited sample size against the one opponent in the league where his size isn't an impediment.

I've called him a fringe prospect, you've called him a good prospect (even a very good prospect yesterday if memory serves), apparently we have signficantly different definitions of what a "good" or "very good" prospect is. I wouldn't call anyone that didn't have a legitimate shot as a top 6 forward or top 4 defender, a "good" or "very good" prospect. Pageau has a remote shot at a top 6 role, and without that, will have a hard time clinging to much of an NHL career.

But I thought he was a good prospect, surely you expect higher of him than that? ****, apparently you agree with my assessment of him, so why all the wasted key strokes in his defence?

Pierre Dorion called him "the best player on the ice most nights", "a steal in the 4th round", his "favourite pick of the draft".

Paul Maclean said he would have to be "crazy" to take him out of the lineup when Spezza returned.

But JCY and ME from forumice.com say otherwise.
Good enough for me.

Again, an appeal to authority fallacy does nothing to prove your point. Leafs scouts said the same thing about Robbie Earl at times.

So, if we turn out right...does that make us better than the people who run your team?

No.

still like that kid. he had a shot at making it. great speed, some grit, and some decent skill.

even had a nice progression from dominating NCAA, to decent rookie AHL year, solid improved AHL 2nd year (w/NHL debut), ....and then boom at 23 he falls apart and isn't even a good AHLer anymore. Finally has another good AHL year 3 years later at age 25, but by then he's missed his window. currently crushing it in switzerland along with famous X-Nhlers like Dube, Ritchie, Omark, Metropolit, and Jason Williams.

In the end, not enough skill for a top-6 role, and not enough defense/committment for a bottom 6 role.

pageau and krug both had one great playoff round this year, but both are still just fringe prospects, IMO.

what was ottawa's lineup at the very end there, anyways?

Greening - Spezza - Michalek
Silfverberg - Turris - Alfredsson
Smith - Ziba - Condra
Neil - Pageau - Conacher/Stone

Karlsson - Methot
Gonchar - Phillips
Cowen - Benoit/Wiercioch/Gryba
