In general, I agree. I'm just super high on Carels, in that he can become the type of defender that you just never get an opportunity to get your hands on. I wouldn't do a 1 for 1, for reasons you mention, but if there is a + involved that can play now...well, fuck.

The + is very crucial because in all likelihood, the trade is gonna make them worse for next season. So the potential and upside better be worth taking a step back for the next year or 2, because we're sort of on a tight timeline here.

It's the only round the Leafs don't have a pick in this year. Would be nice to round out the set.
