The timing of those "complications" was almost uncanny. Almost. Seems that Rainbow Glasses Boy was at least smart enough to do the right thing once he took an actual look at what was going on (or not going on. . .), by firing the cause of all the mess. It would likely have gotten very much uglier in Leafs Land had he not done that.

He got fired because he didn't get the trade in on time.

That would actually be a funny irony, that Pelley doesn't know shit from shit in terms of players and trades, but fired him because he missed the deadline and wasn't able to complete the trade. Not because the trade was a disaster and the guy who tried to make it a total buffoon.

Wasn't the reason he was fired was something about his methods/processes at the deadline.

He was trying to free up cap space and get assets to improve the team in the summer.
