The Official Post-Bitch 2025-26 Regular Season Thread

funny thing is that mcmann being demoted to the 4th line is actually an insult to Domi, because Domi deserves to go down but coach doesn't trust him on that defensive checking line.

but tbh i wouldn't be surprised in the least if we see mcmann flipped with Domi at some point tonight.

looks like McCabe is back too, which means we're kinda sorta healthy finally, aside from our #1 shutdown D Tanev (who might be dead), our #1 goalie (who might not be better than our #2 and #3 anyways), and our expensive borderline 4th liner Dakota Joshua (who really doesn't deserve to be in the lineup anyways).

if Joshua was healthy things would be interesting, because Joshua is actuallly a good fit on that 4th line with laughton and lorentz despite being way overpaid for it, and for once i get the feeling that coach wouldn't be eager to bump Nicky or Cowboy out of the lineup either.

sure do.

Like i said, Leafs are in playoffs position.
There are only 2 wild-card positions, and the Leafs are out by a point for both of them.

Ergo, they are not currently in a playoff position.
No matter how you attempt to spin it.

A win tonight changes that. A loss changes nothing.

God.

Are olds still arguing with zeke because they don’t understand points percentage? In this, the year of our lord 2026?
NHL standings are calculated using a simple points system: 2 points for a win, 1 point for an overtime/shootout loss, and 0 points for a regulation loss, with total points determining rank; tiebreakers like regulation wins, goal differential, and goals for/against break ties between teams with equal points. This system allows teams with more OT losses to finish higher than teams with more wins but fewer points.

If the season ended today, the Leafs would not be awarded a playoff spot.

So what happens if the season ended today? No more games played. Who makes the playoffs?

The team that played 2 more games? That doesn't seem fair.

If i showed you a real actual NHL season that was cut short and ended early - would you be surprised if it turned out that playoffs seeding (and draft ranking) was determined by points percentage, and not points?

The Leafs would have had to win either one of those unplayed games to win a playoff spot. Until they do, they have not.
