I dunno. I simply refuse to believe that Gregory Campbell has any actual job responsibilities in Florida, or any halfway impressive amount of intelligence or competence.

I think he’s there drawing a paycheck purely so daddy will give his nepo baby’s team preferential treatment, which he very much has been doing.

So maybe if we hired him, the league would start being nicer to us. But in every other way, I don’t think making him our GM would be any less catastrophic than picking any random 40-something high school drop-out with CTE off the streets and putting them in charge of the Leafs.
 
No evidence of him being a data nerd but if gillis is president, the analytics department is gonna drive most decisions. Having a lawyer as gm to handle the day to day stuff seems wise.
 
I mean they signed some dumbass contracts but it's hard to tell if that was a Ken Holland thing or if Ryan Martin would have signed off on a 7 year deal for Abdelkader or 6 years for Frans Nielsen. I'd imagine his job was to structure contracts, optimize bonuses, remain compliant with the CBA, cheat a little, etc.
