The Official Post-Bitch 2025-26 Regular Season Thread

Every single name mentioned other than Pronger is likely gonna be infinitely better than Treliving. That much is guaranteed. I just like the idea of a Gillis type. He's the most progressive name out there imo, even more than the nerds.

It's not really his resume that I care for so much, moreso that his vision is to come in and tear down what I think we can all agree is a pretty shit organization. We need an enema and his plan would require us to have one.
 
Is Lombardi actually good in 2026? Yeah, those Kings championship teams were his but nothing he did before or after suggested that he did anything more than take a job in an organization that already had Kopitar, Quick, & Dustin Brown and sucked a few more times before getting the 2nd overall the year Doughty was there. The draft record is fine, but just fine. His horse trading record was solid once he had his core in place (he regularly pulled good veteran impact players out of a hat...sometimes an expensive hat, but a hat none the less). But this feels very Lou Lamierello-ish to me. Grabbing an old boy based on decades ago success in a different league.

I want to scrub the old boys out of the organization, not to replace them with old boys who once upon a time won a few cups, but to fundamentally change how we evaluate the game, players, prospects, etc.

Progressiveness doesn't always = competent or that the best decisions are made. I just want a guy that thinks differently than the old boys club and values the things that create successful teams in the NHL (skill, uptempo style, sports science, etc). No one else out there is gonna have much of an interesting resume since they're largely picking between agms and nerds and understanding xgf does not = good gm, so in the absence of a guy with a clear elite resume, give me the guy with the clear and largely correct vision.

Yep. I want the shitty roots ripped right out of the DNA of the organization. I want everyone drawing a pay check who has ever advocated for slow, tough hockey to be politely asked to move on in their careers. I want that entire vein of thought gone from the organization.
 
And one of the best parts of all, we know he heavily pushes for analytics to be involved in all coaching decisions. That used to be the Leafs. It was well known that in the early keefe days, they had him using all the nerd resources. And even under babcock, they made up certain metrics to appease him like "heavy shifts."

But then, based on reports from ex employees, as the team continued to fail and Kyle's tenure went on, that eventually faded. They took failure and effectively blamed the overuse of nerdies. And the team got more boring, less skilled, and played a horseshit style. Let's get back to the early Kyle days and this time, trust the process.
 
This is ridiculous. If the Leafs have the financial resources that they claim to have, figure out who the best GM is, even if he is employed, and just go fucking get him.
 
My dream team.....

Gillis as President of Hockey Ops with Mats as the VP. They are doing these interviews with Gillis where they are probably asking him who he sees as the best choice for GM and he probably mentioned connecting with Mats..hence they asked him to come down...or Mats contacted them when Gillis came in for multiple interviews.

Then I want Gillis to say that Martin is an up and comer, as he probably knows about him when he was with Nill when Detroit was good. And he sees him as a someone ready to be a gm.. which then he would get Gillis to offer Matthews and mcdavids agent as an assistant gm, (perfect fit) and he will get Mathews to stay and get Connor over to join him after Edmonton either wins it this year or next. Or fails again.

Then I think you get another AGM that is a super nerd, or make pridham and give him a louder voice because muldover is there to learn and keep the boys happy. Pridham, Washington guy, other Florida nerd....

Last thing.

Watch Sunny mehta try to get Knies out of Toronto for a deal around Dougie Hamilton...and a team of Gillis,Sundin, Martin and pridham/nerd guy and muldover say no.
