The Official Post-Bitch 2025-26 Regular Season Thread

I mean everything I'm hearing about this process seems positive. They are going after the Mike Johnson's, not the Jeff O'Neill's. The Sunny Mehta's and John Chayka's, not the Marc Bergevin's.

It's all positive stuff from what I see. Cautious optimism.
Pelley is a jeanious

Would be comforting to all of us here to know that there is someone in the room 100% advocating for the right way (tm) to do it. Also an alumni that played with Mats would easily elevate him in the org.

i wonder if Scott Whites contract is up. Nill’a was expiring after this season and he signed an extension.

If so we could just buy White.

I these guys are given permission to interview with other teams, isn't it with the understanding that they would be walking away from any contract with their existing team?

I have a little hope, but they'd better be putting this management group together properly behind the scenes with the President role having some say in the GM pick and so on. I just see too much opportunity for dysfunction if this isn't properly sequenced.

On one hand, he offered a contract to Jay Rosehill. That's bad.

On the other hand, he realized that was a fuckup and pulled the offer. That's good.

Treliving pulling the Reaves contract and suffering some reputational damage would have been way better than the alternative.

Oh ya it’s typical for NHL GMs to let AHL enforcers sit on NHL contracts offers for multiple days and agree not to sign anyone else instead while they think about it. Totally believable.

Yeah, in that light is sounds like his agent made it sound more sure than it was. Like...why did a guy who hadn't seen the NHL in the previous two years need time to think about anything? His next stop ended up being the English hockey league ffs, it's not like anyone else was offering him anything.
