The Stats Thread

All those stats to me are like financial metrics that you use to screen stocks to narrow it down to a few that you can analyze further. The is not a single metric that can tell you how well a stock will perform, same thing for stats and players.

Speak for yourself.

The qoc is usually based on the corsi of players you match against. Though it can be fenwick... even strength points plus minus or something else too. Most use corsi/minutes of ice time though.

Worst minus. Bourque -9. winner of one way ticket to Steeltown.

I urge them to petition Nonis to make a claim for the statistically misunderstood Bourque.

See, that's bad because corsi or fenwick don't account for zone starts and QoC. I know it's a vicious circle but corsi on it's own is not very useful.

I think even if the stats aren't perfect, over time people will find something that widely accepted, useful, and close enough not to worry about any of the imperfections. I think we're getting closer to that.

Save Percentage isn't perfect either but I think we're at that point now with it. Unless you're Count I guess.

All stats have to be looked at in multiple layers.

If you look at qoc and ignore zone starts you are leaving out a huge part of the equation.
