Re: To Tank or not to Tank, that is the question
We need to time our tanks better.
Next year looks like a pretty decent draft at the top. The Galchenyuk year was a bit of a down year.
And for Bolduke, ending up in the 13-15 draft spot would actually be an improvement over where we are now. Right now we're sitting at around the 10th overall pick (11th based on points, but 2 teams below us are close in points with games in hand). Our goal differential should have us in the playoffs, but we've been a lot worse.
At this point, I'd say our likely final placement would be:
-If Price doesn't play again this year, we should be pretty close to a top-5 pick.
-If he does come back, but later, I don't really see us finishing top-5, but somewhere in the 7-10 range is reasonable.
-If he is back in 2 weeks, and is back to how he was before, we will likely fight for the last playoff spots.
I do think that we won't necessarily get swept if we do sneak into the playoffs. But we'd need to sneak into the first wildcard to avoid Washington. If we could do that, then we would likely play Florida in the first round, which we could easily beat.
