Re: To Tank or not to Tank, that is the question

To further my point, since December 2nd we've received above .910 goaltending only 7 times, and we have a record of 5-2 in those games.

There was a stretch were Trojan had a good save percentage , and we couldnt win to save our life. You cant score less than 2 goals a game and win in this league . Even with Price in goal we would need 8 shutouts in the last 25 and him standing on his head spitting nickels to even come close to a winning record.

This is a total team collapse with our leaders showing their true colours with no spine , plain and simple.

Thats why need changes in our core group.

So which one is being dealt (I assume you mean in the Summer) Pacioretty or Subban.

First you rid of 14, 79, 51 as a start. You know my feelings on 67 , heist of the decade if they have the guts to do so.

Nice player but no guts , no leadership too perimeter for my liking . Don't want this going to the bitter end when at 30 it's 6-8 years at crazy money. If we aren't winning a cup with him at 27 with this flawed roster it isn't happening 3 years down the road .

This is strictly asset management , I see teams willing to blow their load in my opinion if you put him on the block , young enough , great cap , no trade clauses , no baggage , = cha Ching cha Ching at the trade register.

It's reflected in the stats I've shown, during that stretch he had 3 wins, 2 losses. There is absolutely no denying that we've got the absolute worst goaltending in the league during thst stretch. I'm also not denying that scoring has been an issue but we would have had way more wins with just NHL average goaltending.

Re: To Tank or not to Tank, that is the question

Trading Pacioretty is stupid. Making Pacioretty captain was also stupid.

Who on the current roster has a better trade value than Max? Because we sure as hell won't be able to address all our needs with trades involving our bottom six forwards, bottom pair defencemen or grade B prospects. If Bergevin is going to change the chemistry he's going to have to cut into the core group. You can't trade Price or PK. So who's left? Gallagher won't get you as much as you think and Pleks is hardly what you'd call sought after.

Bingo....you answered the $64,000 question , how can we fix our needs when our prospect pool has no difference maker , the draft is years away from any tangible results , UFA`s and decent players wont waive their NT clauses to come to Montreal .

76,11,27 and 31 stay ....you need to keep some assets and when 1/2 of this current roster minimum is gone in 2-3 years , you need to replenish the team .

So do you keep perimeter Max and his 30 goals and all of us wanting more , or do you make the tough decision and get 3 legit assets for him that we can work with now and down the road as we try to shape our team .

I dont know how long you can keep the status quo , and as mentioned having assets below market value is useless if you cant win with it before its pay up time in a few short years .

I dont really think that most want more from Max. He is probably the best value in the NHL for his production. He is not a perimeter player as some would think. Someone actually posted pics of his shooting spots and most were from the slot area. There is not even a small chance of him getting traded any time soon.

There will be teams lining up for Plekanec. His two-way play is top 5 in the league. Sure the Habs are slumping but if you think he wouldn't be sought after you don't know hockey. He's q coach's wet dream.

No kidding. Almost 40 goals and they bitch where they're scored from. Plenty from the slot btw.

Trading Max is dumb. He really shouldn't be captain though.

If you want good value for Plek you'd have to be willing to eat some salary though. The 2 years remaining on his contract doesn't make him an ideal candidate for the trade deadline.

The other year is also quite prohibitive for teams looking at Markov. If he was an UFA, he'd be a much easier sell.

Re: To Tank or not to Tank, that is the question

Price and Subban are not getting traded.....in fact, they will be Habs for a long long long time.

Markov will retire a Hab....if management wanted to trade him, they would've a long time ago. They knew he would slow down, but they prefer to have him as a vet in the room especially for Subban-Beaulieu.

Pleks is a perfect 2-3rd line center....but right now he's asked to be a no 1.

Been saying it since before this board even existed.....All of our problems come back to one thing: FRANCHISE CENTER

Re: To Tank or not to Tank, that is the question

Tank, without a doubt.

Pleks is a 3rd line center on a cup winner.

Galchenyuk will not be a first line center, hopefully second line.

Patches, Subban stay.

DD has to go, just get rid of him. Eller too.

Habs need to tank to try and get that first line center, it's the only way they'll get one.

Habs need to get bigger/tougher on the fourth line.

You don't pay your second line center 6 M a year, do you? Even i doubt Plekanec can do the job as second line anymore.

And then you fire the entire coaching staff , Gallant should of never been let go .
