Re: To Tank or not to Tank, that is the question

Well, Karlsson is on a terrible team and he'll easily get one of the spots. Klingberg will obviously have another one. The third spot you can probably put the next 8-10 guys in a hat and draw at random. Burn, PK, Josi, OEL, Faulk, Keith, Giordano, Doughty probably the top options, and I'm not sure how you pick between them.

This is Doughty's season to win the Norris Trophy.

Re: To Tank or not to Tank, that is the question

Let's just get the top pick and sign Stamkos. Trade Pleks and Markov and boom. Cup

Galchenyuk/Stamkos/Pacioretty
BG/Matthews/whoever we get from Markov or Pleks

Never going to happen. But it's fun to dream.

If Mb likes to say how hard it is to acquire a legit top center or even top six players well his chance is now to try and find one via the draft.

This opportunity may not come again...he should sell whatever he can and shutdown Price.

This team is done this year...last night sealed the deal for me.

I understand what you're saying, but if we want to maximize Price we need to do much more than "build through the draft" - Price is in his prime now.

A top draft pick and a top signing is required this off-season.

What happened to the 8 year window you were touting last year?

MB has had very little success on the UFA market and trade market.

I don't expect him to be able to lure any top end talent if he states how hard it is to do.

He seems to have convinced himself that he can't do it...with his comments like "no top center has been dealt since Joe Thornton":drink

Or that comment about making a trade "this isn't playstation"

Re: To Tank or not to Tank, that is the question

I've zero confidence in this orgs ability to even turn a #1 overall pick into something useful, will likely end up a PK specialist.
Me neither. I fully expect that immediately following the Habs' selection we will hear words like "slightly undersized", "more of a playmaker than a scorer", and "will hopefully be ready to crack the NHL roster in 2 or 3 years"

Your view is better than mine. I expect Timmins to pick some guy no one knows and for Baldy to say, well they went off reservation on that one.

And it's at that point when I wish that someone in the media audience would have grabbed the mic and said "But you wanted the job, Marc. Why did you accept the job if it's impossible for you to succeed at it?"

Bottom line: he wanted the job and he got it. So stop making excuses and DO IT, CALISSE!

Re: To Tank or not to Tank, that is the question

everyone knew Price

although I am sure if we had traded him instead of Halak, Timmins would have said the pick was forced on him,,,,

im with you on timmins but what were these other picks that nobody knew about?

Re: To Tank or not to Tank, that is the question

so a decade ago?

guess he is due for an out of the blue pick

:p

Re: To Tank or not to Tank, that is the question

There are posters whose opinions make me think they don't know anyone in the NHL other than Habs' players, so no surprise they wouldn't know junior players.

Re: To Tank or not to Tank, that is the question

This is Doughty's season to win the Norris Trophy.

It should have been last year. Only in the NHL does someone with the most first place votes not win the award.

But he probably won't win because the majority of the NHL media that does vote on the trophy don't watch the LA Kings play.
