Trade Deadline 2024

Here’s my speculative bullshitty prediction:

We’ll be part of a three team trade with NJ and LAK. We’ll ship out Pearson and retain salary on Toffoli so he can repatriated to lala land too. We’ll get a mid-round pick and someone to help Laval.
way to push all of ours right in

Hindsight is 20/20, but if The Charlatan had the same level of aggression when he got here that the Vegas crew has? I think with a core of Price, Subban, MaxPac in their primes would have won.
MB was inconsistent, he was adamant to build through the draft, never traded first round picks or prospects, minus the ill fated Drouin trade, yet never bothered to revamp our scouting and player development program.

It was through these years that I’ve became aware of the biggest gap in actual vale vs perceived value, which is draft picks and prospects are way overrated compared to their actual returns. I’m actually glad to finally see a team like Vegas taking advantage of it. And yes, in hindsight, we would have been so better off trading all our picks and prospects for established players, if done smartly of course. I was glad to see Hughes explore that route, with results yet to be seen.

Habs were never winning a cup being Vegas style aggressive

Core was simply too flawed and Habs are not the preferred destination like Vegas

Maybe win an extra round but thats it

Instead of drafting Galchenyuk had that puck been used to acquire 23 yr old Jordan Staal and instead of McCarron had that pick been used for Niederreiter - would’ve added a C w size & offense for that 2014 playoff team.

Would’ve compensated for the “flaws” - lack of C w size and more size on W

Iffs and buts ....those 2 are not moving the Habs needle to contention

Habs were missing the stars on the top 6 , those are the condiments at your BBQ

that 2014 team was 1-win away from Cup finals, WTF are you talking about

Very unpopular opinion:

While I hope the loophole is fixed (it won't because this is the NHL, after all) eventually, I love that teams like Vegas & Tampa Bay have taken advantage of it.

Sorry, but I like it when teams make big pushes to try to win championships, future prospects & picks be damned.

The key is to have an injury prone team!

That said I doubt Stone plays round 1 or 2.

Habs were not winning a cup against the Kings

Plus, your just plugging names on a video game in hindsight

The original point is that Bergevin had an incoherent strategy and did not use his assets properly. Going into the playoffs with Desharnais as 1C was ridiculous.

That we netted Galchenyuk (who was decent), McCarron and Scherbak just illustrates that point retrospectively.

Asset management was brutal under Nero

Drafting and development is a crap shoot but not capitalizing trading Price , Gally, Petry, Pleks and PK ( wrong trade or too late) is what killed this franchise right now

A beauty Max trade netted us our best player ....you move vets ahead of their expiry date especially when your spinning your wheels

No idea how successful we would be , but it wouldnt be a total tear down sprinkled in with a few more years of suckage
