Trade Deadline Thread

Grab Crouse, Coyotes would rather not have to pay his contract. If you take $ off their hands, they'll give you a cheap deal.

Could work. Include a second team to retain money and call it a day. Then you've got Crouse on the cheap for 5 playoff runs at 3.5? If a team retains just 700k you can do a clean swap with Kerfoot+picks or whatever. But then you wonder how much of an upgrade that really is.

Not a kerf guy but I would rather be done with subtracting forwards tbh.

Crouse would be good. I do kind of miss cheering for a team that can lay the body and mixes shit up a bit. "Our toughness is our powerplay" is something a soft team says.

I'm definitely not all-in on that philosophy of team building, but as ME said I would be glad if they just picked a lane. I've got no issues with them trading Engvall if they're also cleansing Kerfoot and removing the soft ass bitches to replace with big hard mean guys that can also play hockey. If the direction they want to take is being "hard" as a team then go for it. Swap Kerf for Crouse. I don't even necessarily think it improves them all that much but it does make them different. And maybe that's what they need. Hard to know for sure.

I don't want to sacrifice skill for grit but if there is an option to have someone who can jump into the top 6 with some sandpaper to their game then I am all for it. The dirty goals are the ones that generally push you over the edge in close playoff games. Give me someone willing to run through a goalie score

Bennett, Reinhart, Toffoli, Mangiapane, Crouse , Wilson all fit that mold

And yeah, this "direction" they want to take is as much Keefe as Dubas and Shanny. Dubas is giving him the types of players he wants. Putting all his marbles on what Keefe thinks he needs.

I like a lot about Engvall but it was a frustrating part of his game. Biggest strongest guy on the ice shouldn't be losing board battles so easy.

I actually saw it differently. He didn't throw body checks but he was pretty puck dominant. He had the puck on his stick more than any other player in their bottom six.

But his offence clearly hasn't translated to the playoffs and he was never one to take pucks hard to the net; he liked the perimeter. So I get moving him if they're going to upgrade on him. As of right now his replacement is Lafferty though and that's not gonna cut it for me.

I really don't think their direction has changed at all. They've been acquiring guys like this at the deadline for years now. They've just done a better job this year, with ROR, Acciari and McCabe specifically.

It's changed a lot since the beginning. Kyle has matured into a different GM valuing intangibles and truly believing it is the answer to their struggles. But yes, they got Bogosian, Boosh and Foligno before so it's not different from the past couple of years. Now it's Lafferty, ROR and TBD.

Kyles first big deadline addition was Muzzin. Then Clifford. Then Foligno and Nash. Then Gio Boosh and Blackwell.

The hasn't really changed. People just expected him to fill the lineup with skilled midgets because thats how he drafts.
