Trade Deadline Thread

Confirmed

At the end of the day we're watching a bunch of white millionaires smack a stick against a rubber disc. Nothing we say, do or think is rational or not based on pure raw emotion. It comes with the territory.

Now fire everyone.

I don't understand the Sandin move if we weren't going to use that pick to upgrade. you have him under control for next year too, you can trade him later. what good is that pick to this team, which is getting blown up by a new GM if they don't win a round anyway??

Not that they needed to honor it, by I assume Sandin was demanding a trade.

Sandin himself is a bit of a head scratcher for me. Got advanced through the system about as quick as he could reasonably ask for (~60 AHL games played before he was a full time NHL'er). Isn't quite 23 yet and almost has 2 full seasons of NHL play under his belt and he's been solid but has hardly lit the world on fire despite getting opportunities to run one of the top PP units in the league with 40 million dollars worth of star forwards on.

In the end it just feels like he wants to be somewhere playing for a worse team that is more or less forced to play him 20 minutes a night rather than come up gradually with a contender and earn it. He was unhappy here for about a year before the trade happened as well. I can't fault a guy for wanting to be in a position to get paid, but it really feels like he wanted shit from us that he hadn't shown he was worth or capable of on the ice.

Fuck, he's the 3rd youngest defender in the league with 120+ games played. Only high draft picks Seider & Dahlin are ahead of him there.

So when is the deadline anyway?? That Boston 1st is burning a hole in their pocket, and we know they didn’t trade Sandin and Engvall for no reason! Ooooh, this year is going to be an exciting one right down to the wire. The 2LW is gonna be some super under the radar move that we will never see coming. Never see coming, I tell ya.

It was so good nobody even saw it, let alone saw it coming!

Fuuuuck, one for the ages.

ZAR > Engvall, people.

1st > Sandin with cheap term left.

9 dmen, so who really needed him anyway. Even Lilly is redundant now that we have Schenn.

And pin our hopes on my fave Knies to just blow the barn doors down as 2LW instead of getting a proven guy with term like Crouse or something, and then have both? He wouldn’t be much of a fave if I didn’t fully endorse this move.

The best part? This was obviously the plan all along. Don’t listen to the bullshit from Dubie the day before about how they were still looking to make moves to improve. Just focus on the comments after the fact where he said he was done once he closed with that masterful stroke with the Engvall dump.

Good, good stuff. One thing we can say at least is that if we faceplant in the first round again, it’s not because we didn’t expend every single effort, use all logical trade capital, and move out the underperformers who were holding us back this year.

Bravo. Dubie did exactly what I would’ve done yet again. It’s like GMing the team and not having to pay any pesky taxes on an exorbitant salary. What could be better!
