Trade Deadline Thread

IMO the Canes did pretty good overall. Basically, traded Necas and a 2nd for Stankoven, two 1sts and two 3rds.

They took a shot on Rantanen and he didn't play well... and that likely led to him not being happy and not wanting to sign. That's not Tulsky's fault.

I'd be pretty happy that he fixed the "mistake" rather than compounding it.
Well said! The brilliant mind of Tulsky shone through in his presser, no ego, no hiding behind anything with all of this, an honest assessment of they tried and swung hard and it didn’t work out as well as they hoped but they still have assets to build on. The fixed mistake still allows plenty of runway to keep on trying this summer as they retool the roster. Is their really one bad contract on this team right now that you need to get out from under from come July 1???

As long as Rantanen for Stank works out better than Skinner for Pu...
To be honest, that trade worked out very well for the Hurricanes. They became a perennial playoff team and even though Skinner had some good offensive seasons, he never made the playoffs with the Sabres. I really think that Skinner got traded because Brindy didn't want him in his locker room.

We got 3 picks too. And 2 of the picks turned into Pyotr Kochetkov and Alexander Nikishin. The 3rd pick was traded with Scott Darling for James Reimer. Pu was traded for Future Considerations which was Tomas Jurco, who helped the Checkers win the 2019 Calder Cup, an invaluable experience for

I get the feeling RBA's system and character had a lot to do with Rantanen not wanting to reup. Seems like he likes to be lazy at times.

He decided last week he didn’t want to play here. So he lollygagged his way through several games and then he and his agent dragged things out so long that Tulsky couldn’t flip any of the picks he got from Dallas. So maybe he wasn’t a good fit, but he didn’t need to behave like a pissbaby bitch boy for the entirety of his time in Raleigh.

Laine acts the same way

Lazy also works better if you ride on others coattails instead of being the lead dog…let’s be honest, Rants up until this point in his career has McKinnon and Makar to thank for much of his resume…maybe he wasn’t cut out to be the lead dog here that everyone kinda hoped he would be. With those expectations comes with it not a lot of room to take games off …
