Trade Deadline

Ultimately management didn't believe in this group. They will accept their 1st or 2nd round exit and go into the summer with a first rounder, and a couple of prospects in hand.

so in other words same old, same old.

Shanahan must have a pet hypnotoad that he brings with him to all board meetings.

For the record, most of his defenders (there aren't many anymore, in fairness) have defended Tre's offseason because they wanted to give him a chance to make up for his blunders. The argument was, ok maybe he fucked up royally on Klingberg and Reaves and Kampf, but "if Klingberg doesn't work out, who cares? They can just trade him and replace him! Let's wait before we criticize!" I didn't wait and maybe that was my fault. But we're here. This is their roster. They didn't replace the top 4 d that they were supposed to get in the summer. And that's fireable in itself. A wasted season.

Tre botched his job.

They just gave matthews and nylander a gazilion dollars. Of course they believe in the group.

How many cups have Been won because of deadline day adds?
I don't think they do. We have clear needs on the blue line and on forward group and when it comes to games that matter the group doesn't rise to occasion. There is nothing in this group that would tell you that things will be different this time around from previous years.

Deadline deals don't automatically give you wins but staying with a group that is obviously not good enough with first rounder in hand tells me they are rolling the dice and hoping for a hot couple of months.

Last year the Bruins added Orlov and Bertuzzi and lost in the first round to a team that added no one. Deadline is overrated.

Vegas deadline is nuts though if everyone comes back. But they’ll prob get swept in the first round.

Knies-Matthews-Marner
Domi-Dewar-Nylander
Bertuzzi-Tavares-Krok
McMann-Kampf-Reaves

Brodie-McCabe
Rielly-Boosh
Edmundson-Lilly (probably Benoit)

??

Net Rating is far far from perfect, especially from a sheltered offensive dman like Timmins, but i'll just line up the current net ratings:

Bertuzzi 2 --- Matthews 25 --- Marner 16
McMann 0 --- Tavares 9 --- Nylander 14
Knies -1 --- Domi -3 --- Jarnkrok 0
Holmberg ?? --- Dewar -5 --- Robertson -1
(Gregor -11 --- Kampf -10 --- Reaves -12)

Rielly 5 --- Timmins 8
McCabe 3 --- Liljegren 5
Giordano 0 --- Brodie -2
(Benoit -2 --- Lyubushkin -10)
(Edmundson -8)
Not sure what Holmberg's rating is but iirc it was decent before this year and probably much better now. Probabkly a positive rating, but not very negative if it's negative.

The question is whether Keefe's gonna keep all 5 of the bolded in the lineup.

Knies --- Matthews --- Marner
Domi --- Tavares --- Jarnkrok
Bertuzzi --- Dewar --- Nylander
Holmberg --- Kampf --- McMann
would probably be my best lineup.

but you know keefe wants gregor and reaves in there.
That's my favorite lineup too. More likely, however is a rotation of the two W slots on the 4th line between Gregor, Reaves and McMann. Holmberg and Robertson are done barring injuries.

I am curious to see Dewar playing with some talent on the Willy line.. I don't expect much but it's obviously clearly worth trying.

not sure why you guys think Dewar will play ahead of Kampf.
I think he'll start there! They've tried Kampf on an offensive line already and it failed. Now's the time to experiment. But it'll most likely fail and they'll revert to Kampf before Domi.
