the radio told me the other day that Tom Hardy is going to be the next James Bond. anyone who pays more attention to these things able to confirm?

Eh, I feel they kinda went away from the gentleman Bond thing to the ruffian Bond thing with Craig, which was good because he could be both.

But Hardy takes it into thug territory a bit, and I don't like that. Cavill would bring it back to the center, where it should be.

You know he acts his roles right? He can play a polished Bond if that’s what they want him to do. It will be up to the director and producers.

He can act all he wants, but he's a bit thuggish. It's like the British version of Wahlberg playing Bond. Doesn't really ring true for me.

I agree with LOF on this one. I like Bond to be refined and witty. Hardy is a great actor but those two traits are not his strong suit.

Both those guys were still gentleman-types. Connery was rougher a la Craig. Moore a little prissier a la Brosnan. Both good, both not thuggish.

Connery was far more rugged than Moore. I don’t view them the same at all.

Hardy is a great actor, he’d be fine.

He's fucking awesome.

With that said, the pure gentleman Bond (Moore, Brosnan) is a bit of cartoon character and probably gone (and that's a good thing, the broken down old gritty Bond was a far more compelling character imo). If they're basically just soft booting the Daniel Craig Bond into a younger version in his prime, I'm entirely good with that.
