Well, at least we found out the 2nd half of a back to back is not a write off if you have a goalie.

Not good enough.
 
One of the Leafs better games on the back end of b2bs this year.

Not a great outcome but there's lots of runway left in the season.
 
I know you guys like talking nerd stats.... shit load of talent on this team.... one of the best goalies in the league....
End of the day.. this team is way, way too soft. It is.
 
Decent effort on a back to back against a hot team, but that one massive fuckup was hard to take. Awful way to lose.

If you squint there's something in there maybe to build on but damn they better build fast.

I'll await your apology. You guys ridiculed people like myself for daring to say Babcock was not the biggest issue with this team. Am I happy this is happening? Hell no. I said from the beginning this team needs a major personel shake up. But all I heard about was the world would correct itself once Babs was fired.

Their nerd stats aren't quite up to snuff either. And I suspect that being soft is part of it. I don't think anyone would disagree that they could use some harder players or guys that can win those 50-50 puck battles or break up cycles. All of that shows in nerd stats though. The nerds not liking toughness/hard player thing is a bit of a myth. Nerd stats love the O'Reilly's and debrusk's of the world.
 
The team is a bit soft but it's not a significant issue, imo.

I'd really like to see both Matthews and Nylander learn to use their bodies better and stop the pussy shit when they see a check coming in. Marner can be excused, as he's a waif. But those two are solidly built.

Honestly as much as I agree that they could use more possession drivers/suppressors (or as you may call them non-soft players) the issue tonight was their lack of offense. Need to show more skill and creativity out there. They played quite fine otherwise.
