Minimum 72 GP / Maximum 82 GP
Goaltenders Maximum 90 GP

Min / Max calculated for a 56 games season based on proportion :

Minimum 49 GP / Maximum 56 GP
Goaltenders Maximum 61 GP

I agree with the games played shift for this shorter season. But I still have a couple questions about the goalie stats.

A) Why have a minimum games played requirement for skaters but not goalies?

B) Why do goalies get rewarded for save percentage up to .939 but not above?

Calculate Per Game, Cumulative:
From 0 to 1, award 0point(s) for every0.001SV%
From 0.9 to 0.909, award 0.003point(s) for every0.001SV%
From 0.91 to 0.919, award 0.004point(s) for every0.001SV%
From 0.92 to 0.929, award 0.005point(s) for every0.001SV%
From 0.93 to 0.939, award 0.006point(s) for every0.001SV%

Thanks, was gonna look at this today. I guess we just need to remember to switch it back next season.

As for Iceman's question about the save % above .939, this question came up once before, didn't it? Do you remember what was discussed/decided?

Re: minimum # of goaltender GP, pretty sure we set it at 72 for all positions as stated below, then max of 82 for all except G which is max 90. (I will add Max GP 90 for G to this part of the Rules Thread)

MAX GP PER POSITION = 82
MINIMUM GP PER POSITION = 72
TOP-UP = 1 PPG

G: 90 (Total)

It does appear that somehow there was an oversight and .940+ was neglected to be given a reward.
I feel like this issue came up some time ago, and there was a reason for doing it this way. I could be wrong though, I was not involved in setting up the scoring system.

It does provide 0.055 points per save, and these are bonus points for being above .900? Maybe because there are extra points for a shutout affected the top end? We'd have to remember who set up the original scoring and ask them.

I tend to agree with Deckie that it seems to work really well as is, and I would prefer not to fu.ck with it unless we're 100% sure.

Well...not sure what to say here. LOL I don't necessarily want to stir up problems for anybody especially when I'm not the one who has to fix it...so my sincere apologies for causing a headache.

But it sure seems like something's broken or wrong with the settings.

1. Does it make sense to have a scoring system so complicated that nobody in the league fully understands it, especially if it seems to ignore rewarding the best performances but gives a bonus to lesser ones?

2. It's not exactly a rare issue. It's a little thing and I'm not saying it's skewing the results brutally...maybe our whole overall standings would be totally unaffected! But, for exmaple, Grubauer has played 8 games this season and already in half of them his save percentage has been over .939.

3. Let's say your goalie is sitting at 30 saves on 32 shots (.937), so he's getting a nice bonus for that performance if it ends that way.

If the opponents take another shot and he stops it, that's 31 saves on 33 shots (slightly OVER .939), so now he misses out on any bonus at all.

But...if the opponents take another shot and it goes in, that's 30 saves on 33 shots (.909), so he still gets some bonus points that way.

That's crazy. (He does get points for each save, like you say, so it's still better if he stops the puck. But to have the bonus go down still makes no sense).

Should we not just put in the corresponding bonus points for those higher ranges: .940 - .949, .950 - .959, etc?

Or, if you guys think that will somehow make things go all screwy for some reason I'm missing...

Maybe we just pretend that .930 and up is the upper echelon of goaltending. Then we could leave the bonus points the same and change the range of that last category so instead of .930 to .939, it's .930 to 1.000. That seems like a weaker fix to me, but still better than nothing.

It's gonna take some digging, but there is probably something somewhere on this sub forum that at least puts some logic to the reason it is scored like that. I'll see if I can find anything today.

It shouldn't be ignored just because people feel the scoring system works. Just put a value in for. .940 up.

The goalie scoring was briefly discussed in October, here.

While scoring save % above .939 was not directly discussed, the salient point seemed to be that tweaking the stats from where they were gave more of a boost to the highest end goalies while not doing much for the rest.

There's already a huge disparity between #1 and #10, like ~38%. I don't want to make a top goalie more valuable than a top scorer relative to the position.

It was floated in that thread that implementing a 'qs' stat for points may be better to boost goalie scoring, but that is probably an offseason discussion at this point.
