The Motherfucking 2021 Season Thread

He’d be just what we need. Cheap, on an expiring contract, pending UFA, great numbers the past couple of years.

I’m at a loss as to why the Panthers would trade him, though. He’s been their best goalie, and they’re near the top of the standings. And while they’ve got a hot-shot goalie prospect behind him, he’s never played an NHL game.

So why wouldn’t they keep him for their playoff run?

They wouldn't, obvious.

Yep.

Though as long as Driedger doesn't become Florida's playoff starter and take them on a run (and price himself out of our range), he'd be an interesting guy to target in the off-season. He could be one-half of a low-cost/high-potential goalie tandem with Campbell.

Still need another center.

Sure, but it doesn't need to be one making 3.5 million if Engvall is capable of taking the 3C spot. Fire up the analytics machine and pick one out of free agency for under a million in the summer.

I caught a last second of the interview with Staal and that guy is such a bitch talking about how he grew up a leafs fan.....but when talk of trade to the north he chooses Montreal?

That guy and that whole family seems soft, mentally that is

Yeah, I'm skeptical AF about any alleged injury here being legitimate, that lacked any sort of visible mechanism or on-ice reaction from Freddy. It's not like his play was good, he got ran into or something and started sucking. We have a long trend of diminishing performance that seems to have fallen off of a cliff during a season he came into well over his playing weight of the last few years. Now we're talking about a week to week injury here? Yeah, I don't buy it.
does a bruised ego count as a real injury?

Maybe the Leafs didn’t offer.....

Corey Perry would have been a better choice as 4th line/PP dude.

I was wrong about that as I thought Simmonds would bounce back somewhat -- and so did Bergevin who offered Simmonds 3x what he offered Perry.

Sounds like you got stopped out of your Simmonds position.

Off topic...why does TSN have duplicate broadcasts for the same game (tonight Ottawa and Montreal).

Seems like a waste of money.

I mean sure but again, we don't urgently need tbe capspace and we'd need to replace him.

and thank heavens Simmond's brokerage didn't fill Bergy's buy order
I was so annoyed that we outbid him.

And how does he get $1.5M when Spezza and Thornton get $700k??

Age be damned. He stinks. They really need to get rid of him or at least marginalize him, because he's the only Ceci/Barrie sort of shitstain on the roster at the moment and needs to go. So yeah, we really need another winger just to push him out of there permanently.

Maybe not urgently, but we can put it to good use one someone who isn't the 4C. You've got one goalie in your lineup there, and a 19 yr old LW who might not be ready. Unlikely to be ready for top 6 duty.
