The Motherfucking 2021 Season Thread

Bourne has gone to absolute shit. I kinda liked him at one point.

In retrospect, the only thing that really made him interesting as a writer/analyst was the inside view he provided on how Dubas runs an organization, and on the Leafs’ prospects on the Marlies.

As that’s faded into the rear view mirror, it’s become obvious he’s a pretty run-of-the-mill talking head.

Georgiev kinda sucks.

There's no kinda. He's no bueno

and yeah, the only reason to risk losing Jack in expansion is if we're getting a legit top flite goalie imo. Kuemper, etc. There's more than enough average plus guys likely available with no term (Ullmark, Bernier, etc, etc). Just get one of those. Go get a long term guy after the expansion draft if you feel the need to go that route.

Bourne's actually makes a good point IMO. They should acquire a forward specifically that works with JT/Nylander with the goal of playing them more. So far their linemates have been Vesey/Simmonds/Galchenyuk, and as a result Keefe trust the 3rd line more with the tougher matchups, and JT/Willy have played 15 mins EV/g, while Matthews/Marner are at 18+.

They don't really need to improve the first or third line. Matthews/Marner are good no matter who they play with, and the third line combos of Mikheyev-Engvall-Kerfoot-Hyman have been good.

I don't have a problem at all with suggesting that if they're going to get a forward, that's the spot they should look to fill.

But to do an entire the article and frame getting a forward as our "biggest need" is silly, IMO. Perhaps it's more of a headline issue in this particular case but... Jack's played 6 games and is in and out of the lineup, Hutchinson is Hutchinson and Fred not only has been a liability this year but the way they're talking about his "condition", it's absolutely crazy that there's been pretty much 0 articles suggesting we should trade for a goaltender.

Yeah, if it was actually an article about the biggest need then you need to measure it against other needs.

Goalie and second Hyman are what they should be looking for though.

Friedman reporting the Leafs have touched base on Ullmark and are waiting on Fred's report from yesterday to make a decision

Personally unless the report on Andersen came back " not shite goalie anymore" i dont think that should affect talks on Ullmark but i guess Freidman has to be nice.

Also $3.5 mill on a 4th line center isn't the best use of cap space. They have plenty of flexibility to upgrade.

Yeah, I would expect a Kerfoot trade in the summer. As of July 2nd he would be owed a total of 3.45 million in real dollars for the next 2 years. Someone is going to be all over that for a completely functional middle 6 guy who can play a solid enough #3C
