The Motherfucking 2021 Season Thread

Yeah, I would expect a Kerfoot trade in the summer. As of July 2nd he would be owed a total of 3.45 million in real dollars for the next 2 years. Someone is going to be all over that for a completely functional middle 6 guy who can play a solid enough #3C

No actual rush tho. Don't really need the cap and we'd need to replace him at C.

Mirtle suggests Driedger from FLA as a trade target.

He’d be just what we need. Cheap, on an expiring contract, pending UFA, great numbers the past couple of years.

I’m at a loss as to why the Panthers would trade him, though. He’s been their best goalie, and they’re near the top of the standings. And while they’ve got a hot-shot goalie prospect behind him, he’s never played an NHL game.

So why wouldn’t they keep him for their playoff run?

Yeah, not sure I get it either but he does make sense for us.

Yeah, Driedger was on my list....dude might be a sneaky, sneaky pickup.

Was somewhere between mediocre and terrible until 2018-19 when the voodoo kicked in, and he's been a .930 goalie across both the AHL and NHL since.

If we had a guy that I trusted as our 1A, Driedger would probably be my favourite potential pick up, a massive swing for the fences that wouldn't hurt us much if he turned into a pumpkin at midnight. With us already betting on Jack to be that, Driedger would be risky risky but man....

If we look at goalies with more than 1500 minutes over the last 2 years combined (which, huge "yeah but", Driedger barely sneaks into)

Driedger is 1st in SV% (.932), 1st in GSAA/60, 13th in HDSV% (out of 60). Goaltending is such ridiculous voodoo that given his age (26) and narratives being what they are (he might be able to steal the job in any other market that isn't paying 10+ a year for a bad goalie), it wouldn't shock me if this (or something similar) was just what he was.

wtf is a Driedger?

I only know the guy we learned about in public law, and I'm pretty confident assuming this is not him.

Like does Florida love Bob that much where they can punt his insurance policy for a....3rd rounder?

The word is that Florida doesn't think he's very athletic, and has an "unorthodox" technique with his glove. They might see this as getting to cash in on a goalie with lucky, inflated statistics.

Listening to talking heads like Duthy they are all saying that once Freddie is able to come back its his net.....even if Campbell is on a heater....game one of the playoffs will have Freddie.

Just get rid of him so that isn't a flucking option

Yeah, I'm skeptical AF about any alleged injury here being legitimate, that lacked any sort of visible mechanism or on-ice reaction from Freddy. It's not like his play was good, he got ran into or something and started sucking. We have a long trend of diminishing performance that seems to have fallen off of a cliff during a season he came into well over his playing weight of the last few years. Now we're talking about a week to week injury here? Yeah, I don't buy it.
