2021 Playoff Thread | Round 1 | Habs/Leafs

What kind of agreement Staal signed with Habs is a big mystery. Yes KK struggles and i am not liking his game but don't fcking tell me he is worst than Staal. Plus P.O is a new season and the kid did well last year. Yeah i know he may eventually find his way to the line up but i bet you it will be for Evans and not Staal, Easy to sit a kid.
Pls...KK has not been able to outplay an end of career C...that speaks volumes

Last 9GP, Stall has better numbers than KK...

KK will play game 2, he doesn’t deserve to dress game 1...hasn’t earned squat

It's not insane at all, really.

Caufield has almost zero impact 5 on 5 and has... let me check... no powerplay goals so far.

And we're going in the playoffs, where teams are going to be a lot more physical and send their best lines against the us the second he's on the ice and... Yeah I really don't know why he's not going to be playing either.

I have a lot more questions about why KK isn't in the lineup.
Agreed about CC, you need to shelter him from the top 2 lines against the Leafs, they will eat him alive. He's too green right now. He'll probably get in if we get in a hole and we need to gamble.

So you want a player exclusively for powerplays when you know fully well they're going to call less and less, and they're not using him there to begin with. Caufield's going to be a five on five nightmare for us and other teams are going to match up their top lines against him every single chance they get.

What does Caufield bring that helps this team win, exactly? He is entirely dependant on his teammates being able to put up his offense.

I'd argue KK should be in for Armia because we're thin at center.

I'm sure Caufield will get the same amount of time and place in the playoffs as he did in those 3 on 3 overtimes. I'm sure. Maybe he'll have that Edmonton d-man pass him the puck when he's open in the slot too.

Meanwhile, in reality, when he won't be able to generate anything 5 on 5 as he has been during the regular season, he'll be a liability any time he's on the ice. His play 5 on 5 isn't very good at the moment. It's not like Patrick Kane who's a liability defensively, but every time he has the puck, there's a chance he's going to score. There's almost nothing from Caufield without a good center with him, and both our top centers (Suzuki & Danault) will have their hands full trying to contain the Matthews & Tavares lines.

You lost me there. He generates offense, he has an it factor that makes him be at the right place at the right time and convert it. He's not entirely dependent on his teammates, no one else on the team but Toffoli has the skill that he has.

Defensively he's still a work in progress, but he does create offense, the way a goal scorer does, not like a playmaker does.

Goals, shcmoals, who needs them anyway? This is the type of thinking that has plagued the Canadiens since about 1994, during which time they’ve won oh . . . about zero Cups. There should be room for CC somewhere in the lineup instead of one of the several useless plugs who are there now.

neither the advanced stats or the eye test match up with this

the issue is his butter soft usage but no need to make things up

if the plan is to win games 1-0 it will not work
shocking i know

In his first 10 NHL games his 4 goals are tied for 2nd on the team with Tofolli. His 5 points are tied for 4th with Lehkonen. His zero PPG is tied for 5th.... with the 12th most PP toi per game.

His 30 shots on goal led the team over that span.

Might as well give him the exposure now

He is one of a few players that actually has an IQ to score

We are not making the playoffs next year in an 82 game season

I was so envious watching the Lightning-Panthers game last night, the way both teams approached and played the game. The penalties killed the Cats. You can’t take that many against Tampa . . . but Florida played the right way otherwise.

the North would get crucified in that division
