And ya. McCann is getting so overrated because of a high SH% year. He’s not good enough to be worth outrage. It’s highly unlikely he is a 70% gf% player moving forward.

they acquired him solely to expose and ensure they still had a 3rd line center after the expansion draft. Nothing more.
 
I do think trading Kerf to an OTT or ARZ makes mucho sense right now, tho. They want to drill down under the cap floor as much as possible.

I've specifically avoided using 1 year stats when discussing him to avoid that...no, the reason his profile looks good over the last 2 seasons isnt his 12% sh.

He's had one insane year, out of nowhere, at age 24,, with ridiculous PDO. Maybe he broke out at 24 and became a legit top line player, but you also cannot argue that it wasn't an outlier season for him to this point of his career. It was an outlier season. And its the only reason hockey twitter is drooling over him. His previous work is meh.

Also, we should say a very small sample size 43 game season. He was elite for half a season in his career so far.

Yeah, me too. I'm not saying I didn't want McCann. I'd gladly take a cheap flyer on a guy that was elite for half a seasons.

But we'll get shinny new toys though.

Who is upset? Dubas is doing exactly what could be expected of him, given his track record and end of season coddling statements. He's doubling down, protecting all his signings, and will be reloading on the margins with scraps from the bargain bin.

A Freddie Andersen extension is coming down the pipe as soon as we’re past the expansion draft, I’d bet.
