OT: Movies/TV Shows

Went to see him once and the set was quite dark (similar to his most recent Netflix special, which in hindsight could have been for a reason) and someone in the audience asked him to stop doing dark material. The troll that he is, for the next 10 minutes he described in detail a step by step process of how he planned on hanging himself.

But his appearances on The View might have been my favorite. A master troll.



(For reference he leaned more left politically but when he went on the View he would attack Dems in a clearly joking manner but they took the bait every time)

He was booked to perform at the New York Comedy fest and when I saw him on the bill I was ready to book everything. He was on my list to see live.

That's sad to even write... live.

Fucking hilarious. I fucking loved that guy. He does this long stupid joke on Conan that I will find now.

I'm double shocked by this because an email came through literally last week with a client producing something of his, so I figured I would be getting some access to the legend through the deal.

How sad. Looking back, he did look like something was wrong with him for years, super puffed up and looking off...

Yeah, he was on medication that made him very puffy. People would say he got fat, but that wasn't fat at all.

Yup. It looked like he aged ten years in the span of a year. I made a comment at the time that I felt he was sick but nothing came of it and he didn't seem to get progressively worse from there so I forgot about it.

Probably the first time that a celebrity death has ever hit me.
 
He never really made it as big as he should have because his audience was his fellow comics. They all knew he was a genius. The average person never really quite grasped him or his style but he played to his peers and the people he respected.

Still upset that the studio butchered dirty work, his big movie. The original was apparently clearly a rated R movie but they edited the fuck out of it after it was shot, with no reshoots, so it could be more family friendly. Still an awesome movie but I would love to see the uncut version.

I heard Chevy Chase say on Howard Stern the only reason he did the movie was because of 1 brilliant joke in the script, and then they edited it out of the film LOL Norm definitely should have been bigger. He was ahead of his time and didn't do anything to try to cater to the masses.

Doubt this gets reported and thus I could be a total liar, but the new project I was referring to was the sequel. Already written, with an offer coming in to finance it. It was happening. I just heard that literally nobody in his life other than his son knew about his illness, not even as of yesterday. One of these enigmatic, private kind of guys who was loved by his peers and distanced from the rest.

Yeah at the time you weren't gonna make much money on R rated comedies so the studio really didn't want that. Of course norm never gave a fuck about making money. Dude blew everything he had gambling anyway. He just wanted to be funny.

Interesting that you mention that. That was what they were saying on the call earlier, but I hadn't heard that before. How did you know, did he talk about it publicly??
